(What struck or attracted you?)
 It struck out to me that societal
objectives are also involved in
the training and development of
employees. It makes me
appreciate how individuals are
getting more aware and sensitive
in this era. We surely don’t see
this type of attitude in every
company. Emphasizing this is
one of the top priorities since
being culturally or racially
insensitive can destroy a
company in just seconds with
the cancel culture of social
media.

Insight
(What did you learn?)
 I learned the distinction between
training and development.
Training is the act or process of
improving one’s skill and
capabilities for the betterment
of the company. Development,
on the other hand, is the total
assessment of growth as a result
of the training. The objectives of
this aspect are also discussed
which involved individual,
organizational, functional and
societal. Lastly, I learned about
the types of training programs
which are technical, quality,
skills, soft skills, professional and
team training.

(What was explained in the past that you
did not understand?)
 Soft skills were entirely new
learning for me since I never
knew they existed in the first
place. I appreciated that learning
how to be a decent human being
is being taught to employees. I
also reflected on how important
this type of training is since
attitude upholds a greater value
than competency in a
workspace. Soft skills are so
crucial that they are frequently
the deciding factor in whether or
not an individual is retained or
promoted.
Foresight
(What will you do moving forward?)
 I would always bear in mind the
distinction between on-the-job
training and off-the-job training
since it was discussed in a clear
and precise manner. The types
of training helped me have a
vast understanding of how the
human resource management
works. All these learnings
combined highly benefited me
to become a more
knowledgeable business student
than I was before this class.
