Santa Claus gave 24 pieces of candies to
each one of the 5 children he saw on the
street. Now, Santa Claus wants to find
out, Yes!
HOW MANY CANDIES DID HE
GAVE TO THE 5 CHILDREN?
What is the problem of Santa Claus? He wants to find out the total number of
candies he gave to 5 children.
STEP 1.
Write the numbers in column. Always write
the factor with fewer digits below the
greater factor.

Then multiply 5 starting from the ones.
5 x 4 is equal to 20.
Write 0 under the ones, and 2 above the
tens.
