Oman to host inaugural session of Legends League Cricket
 The inaugural session of the Legends Cricket League, a professional cricket league for
former star cricketers, will take place in January 2022.
 It will be played at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman.
 The first season of LLC will have former cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England,
Australia, among others.
 They will be divided into 3 teams.
Tamil Nadu wins Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021
 In cricket, Tamil Nadu lifted the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy defeating Karnataka on 22
November 2021.
 Tamil Nadu won their 3rd Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title.
 The final was played in Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi.
 Shahrukh Khan was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
 Tamil Nadu will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh while Karnataka will get Rs 5 lakh.
Arif Khan,J&K alpine skier, qualifies for Beijing Winter Olympics 2022
 Jammu and Kashmir alpine skier Arif Mohammed Khan has qualified for the 2022 Winter
Olympics to be held in Beijing.
 Khan, who hails from North Kashmir qualified in an Olympic qualifier alpine skiing event in
Dubai.
 He has earlier represented the country in many international events, including World
Championships.
 The Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing from February 4 to 20, 2022.
Germany's Alexander Zverev wins second ATP Finals crown
 Germany's Alexander Zverev captured his second ATP Finals title after defeating Russian
Daniil Medvedev in the final in Turin on 21 Nov'21.
 Zverev, the Olympic singles gold medallist in Tokyo, won his tour-leading sixth trophy of the
season.
 He is the fourth player in tournament history to earn semi-final and final wins over the top-
two ranked players, and first since Andre Agassi in 1990.
NASA launches DART spacecraft on 24 November 2021
 The world’s first planetary defense system called the DART spacecraft was successfully
launched by NASA on 24 November 2021.
 The DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) blasted off aboard a SpaceX rocket from
Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

 The target of the spacecraft is a small moonlet called Dimorphos which is about 160-meter
in diameter.
Skyroot test fires India's 1st privately built cryogenic rocket engine
 Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based space technology startup, test-fired India’s first
privately developed fully cryogenic rocket engine on 25 Nov'21.
 The rocket engine, named Dhawan-1 in honor of Indian rocket scientist Satish Dhawan, has
been developed using 3D printing technology.
 It is fuelled by liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen, a high-performance and low-cost
rocket fuel.
37th edition of India-Indonesia CORPAT being held from 23-24 Nov'21
 Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khanjar is undertaking coordinated patrol (CORPAT) with Indonesian
Naval Ship KRI Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin from 23-24 Nov'21.
 The 37th edition of CORPAT between India and Indonesia will also witness participation of
Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both Nations.
 They have been carrying out CORPAT along the International Maritime Boundary Line twice
a year since 2002
Trilateral exercise between Maldives, India, Sr Lanka concludes
 The 15th edition of the Maldives, India, and Sri Lanka biennial Trilateral Exercise 'Dosti',
which began in the Maldives on 20 November 2021, concluded on 24 November 2021.
 The year 2021 marked 30 years since the initiation of the exercise.
 Exercise Dosti was initiated in 1991, between the Indian and Maldives Coast Guard.
 Sri Lanka joined the exercise for the first time in 2012.
Magdalena Andersson becomes the first female Prime Minister of Sweden
 Magdalena Andersson has been appointed by Sweden's parliament as the country's first-
ever female Prime Minister.
 She has replaced Stefan Lofven.
 She is currently the Finance Minister.
 A former junior swimming champion from Uppsala, she began her political career in 1996 as
political adviser to then-Prime Minister Goran Persson.
 However, she resigned just after 12 hours of being appointed.
Olaf Scholz set to become new German Chancellor
 Olaf Scholz will be Germany’s next Chancellor, replacing Angela Merkel who has led
Germany for 16 years.
 He is currently serving as the Finance Minister.
 Social Democrats has signed a deal with Greens and Free Democrats.
 The deal will install the first three-way federal coalition government in Germany since the

1950s and end 16 years of Merkel-led conservative government.


ICC appoints Geoff Allardice as permanent Chief Executive Officer(CEO)
 The International Cricket Council (ICC) on 21 November 2021 appointed interim Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) Geoff Allardice on a permanent basis.
 Allardice had been in the role on an interim basis for more than eight months.
 Allardice, a former first-class cricketer representing Victoria in 14 matches in Australian
domestic cricket from 1991 to 1994, replaces Manu Sawhney.
Istvan Szabo conferred with Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award
 Hungarian Filmmaker Istvan Szabo and Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese have been
conferred the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award by the 52nd International Film
Festival of India.
 They were awarded on 20 November 2021 in Goa.
 Istvan is known for his international success with the film Mephisto.
 Satyajit Ray is considered one of the pioneers of modern cinema.
Balasore awarded ‘Best Performing Marine District’ in India
 Balasore was awarded as the best marine district in the country.
 For the first time, a district from Odisha got this award.
 Andhra Pradesh was awarded the Best Marine State, while Telangana got Best Inland State
Award.
 Balaghat in MP received the Best Inland district.
 Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala gave away
the awards on 21 Nov'21.
Patalpani railway station to be renamed as Tantya Mama railway station
 Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that Patalpani railway station
in Indore will be renamed as Tantya Mama railway station.
 Indore Bus Stand will also be named after him.
 Tantya Bhil or Tantya Mama was a dacoit (bandit) active in India between 1878 and 1889.
 He is recognized by Indians as a heroic figure.
 He was also called as Indian "Robin Hood".
World's oldest woman, Francisca Susano, dies at age of 124
 The world's oldest woman, Francisca Susano passed away at the age of 124, in November
2021.
 She was the last person alive who was born in the 19th century.
 She had surpassed the previous Guinness World Records holder, Leanne Calment by two
years.
 Born and brought up in the Philippines, she was affectionately known as Lola.

New COVID variant named Omicron, classified as ‘Variant of Concern’


 The new COVID-19 variant, B.1.1.529, first found in South Africa, has been designated as a
“Variant of Concern" by the World Health Organisation.
 It has been named Omicron.
 Omicron may spread more quickly than other forms, and preliminary evidence suggested
there is an increased risk of reinfection.
 This variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning.
