1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1.1 BRIEF DESCRIPTION
IZAR RDC VEHICLE is a standalone reading concentrator designed to be embedded on all types of
vehicle. It enables to have a “passive drive-by” reading solution in autonomous mode without any
driver intervention.

As soon as IZAR RDC VEHICLE is supplied with electrical energy, it reads and stores the data of
radio meters within range. Once reached a list of 1,000 meters or different frames, the concentrator
automatically sends data via the mobile network to a storage server (FTP / SFTP).

IZAR RDC VEHICLE then continues reading, memorizing and sending as long as it is powered.

An energy buffer manages short-term power cuts (<4min, micro-cut, "Start & Stop" function of
certain vehicles) and also allows the sending of the remaining data in the case of return of the
vehicle at the end even if the list of 1,000 meters is not reached.

The synchronisation of the date and time of the concentrator is performed at each start and before
sending any data in order to have the most accurate time stamped data possible.

3 CONCENTRATOR INSTALLATION
3.1 USAGE PRECAUTIONS
IZAR RDC VEHICLE must be installed and put into operation by qualified staff. This
also applies to maintenance work during the life of the product.

Failure to follow these instructions can lead to serious health hazards or the risk of
electrocution.

Electronic discharge! Strict compliance with the pertinent provisions regarding ESD
(ElectroStatic Discharge) must be observed.
Electronic product must be handled with caution!

Housing gasket for IP65

The housing must be open and close with specific care to avoid any displacement of
the gasket.
If after this operation the gasket in not well in place or twisted, the IP65 rating of the
device is not valid anymore.

IZAR RDC VEHICLE is designed to be installed in a vehicle in accordance with the IP65
protection class and without any mechanical stress.
If the product is defective, stop using it and contact the after-sales service. Damage to
the housing as well as the presence of significant humidity in the housing are considered
as defects.

3.2 SIM CARD INSTALLATION

The SIM card is not provided. Please check with your telephone company that it is operational.
The card format must be: Standard format “Mini SIM” (25x15 mm).
The concentrator functions independently of the type of local operator used. It is also possible to use
multi-operator SIM card.

The SIM card installation must be performed with power supply off. Make sure that the
concentrator is disconnected before any intervention.

Insert the SIM card in the compartment as shown below and lock it.

Before closing the concentrator, make sure that the SIM card is properly locked in its
compartment.

3.3 COVER INSTALLATION

Close and screw the cover on the case, once the SIM card is locked in place, making sure that the
seal is also securely in place.

3.5 CONNECTING THE EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY

IZAR RDC VEHICLE must be powered by the vehicle DC voltage source.

Specifications: 22 VA / 12/24 V DC

Do not exceed the permissible voltage (36 V DC).

4 CONFIGURATION / STARTING UP
IZAR RDC VEHICLE must be programmed on-site via a Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy interface
using the IZAR@RDCBV Config software.

5 IDENTIFICATION

6 MAINTENANCE
IZAR RDC VEHICLE requires no specific maintenance.

Do not clean it with solvents or abrasive cleaners, as these would damage the plastic shell. If
necessary, use a damp cloth or sponge.

Storage: The product should be stored in a dry place at temperatures between: - 20°C to + 70°C.

7 TROUBLESHOOTING
7.1 LED INFORMATION
IZAR RDC VEHICLE is equipped with several LEDs inside the housing accessible only by opening it.

7.2 DIAGNOSIS

This chapter provides a first level of diagnosis in case of malfunction.

Beforehand (at the office with an internet connection):
- Make sure the SIM card subscription is still active with your telephone company
- Check that the FTP account is accessible
- Check that the connection information to the FTP server is unchanged: user, password, URL
FTP address
- Make sure that the available disk space on the FTP server is sufficient
On site :
- Perform a visual inspection of the product and check in particular for the following elements :
significant humidity in the housing, damage …
- Check the antenna wiring for good reception
- When using the 12/24V DC external power connector, make sure that it is in place and that
power is available
- Connect to the device and check the settings

When opening the device :

- Check the correct installation of the SIM card and ensure that it is locked in place.
For any other malfunction or problem, please contact the Service Support.

8 REGULATIONS

Recycling

The transposed European Directives on waste batteries and waste electrical and electronic
equipment supervise the actions necessary to limit the negative impact of the product end
of life.
This product is subject to special collection and disposal. It should be deposited at an
appropriate facility to enable recovery and recycling.
For further details about recycling this product, please contact your Diehl Metering agency.
