AUTHORITIES in the research SIGNING OF CONSENT FORM
locale

At the beginning of data gathering, the tool to be used shall first be validated by the

University Research Center and be approved by the school’s Research Ethics Board. After being

issued with clearances and approval certificate, the researchers will send letters to inform the

concerned officials and other authorities in the locale of the study and get their consent before the

researchers will proceed in data gathering.

Upon being given the go signal to float questionnaire, the researchers will explain to the

respondents the purpose of the study and the fact that there will be no monetary compensation in

answering but the result shall be used as an instrument for improvement of the Barangay Tanod’s

performance. The researchers will then solicit their signature as a sign of their consent to be part
of the study. After the respondents agree and sign, they will be given instruction as to how they

are going to answer the questionnaire.

The researchers will then float the questionnaire thru google form for those who are

familiar in the use of internet and gadgets or printed form for those who prefer so. The researchers

will seek the help of the Barangay Officials and/or the SK Officials in floating questionnaire for

those who prefer the printed form so as to minimize close contact between the researchers and the

respondents in avoidance of the Covid 19 virus.

After floating the questionnaire, the responses of the respondents shall be tallied, analyzed,

and interpreted by the researchers. The results shall be used for the crafting of recommendation

for the improvement of the efficiency of the Barangay Tanods in implementing ordinances in their

respective barangays.

Ethical Considerations

In compliance to the research ethical standards, this study will be submitted for ethics

review to Saint Mary’s University Research Ethics Board (SMUREB) with the following address

and contact information: A218, Second Floor, Fr. Godfrey Lambrecht Building; SMU Main

Campus, Ponce Street, Don Mariano Marcos, Bayombong, 3700 Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines with

a.) Conflict of Interest

There is no conflict of interest and the researchers does not intend to gain anything

from the study. It is only intended for research purposes and for the benefit of the entire

community.

b.) Confidentiality and Data Protection

All the data gathered and the privacy of each respondent will be respected and treated

with utmost confidentiality. The collected data will only be retrieved by the researchers

through google forms for those who are far away from the researchers and personally for

those who are near to the residence of the researchers. Furthermore, the researchers will

ensure that the identities of the respondents will be anonymized by providing number codes

instead of their names or emails. All the data provided will be transferred in excel in number

coded format. Aside from the researchers of these study, no one will actually be able to

recognize who the respondents are. Moreover, all the data will be in our care only until this

first semester of this school year 2021-2022. Lastly, after the study has been finished,

bounded in a book, saved in a cd, and submitted to the Research Center and Library, all raw

data including the responses in the questionnaire will be disposed by burning and by deleting

the softcopies. Only the general result shall be kept at the Research Center and at the Library

for future research use.

c.) Management of Vulnerability

To control the respondents' vulnerability, all the details of the research and the

questionnaire will be explained in a manner and language that they will completely

understand. Personal assistance of parents, guardian, or relatives will be requested (if

needed) for vulnerable individuals like those who are uneducated (w/ difficulty in reading

and writing), elderly, minors, and the like. After completely understanding the purpose and

nature of this research, the respondents will have the opportunity to proceed in participating

or to pull out or withdraw from the research at any second without consequence.

d.) Risk/Benefit Ratio

There are no known risks associated with partaking in this study. On the off chance

that the respondents will look for additional data with respect to the study, the researchers

will offer them the significance of the study for the study's advantage. The researchers will

clarify the meaning of the study's discoveries, regardless of whether the hypotheses are

approved or in any case. Furthermore, at whatever point they decide to demand a copy of

the finding's summary, the researchers can give them a copy of the synopsis through email.

The respondents will not be compensated for their participation in this study but its

result shall benefit the entire community by providing recommendations that can be adopted

by the Barangay Tanods for their improvement and by the Barangay Officials for the

amendments or crafting of new ordinances.

e.) Informed Consent

The researchers will start selecting respondents after getting endorsement from the

SMU-REB for data gathering. The consent form, together with the questionnaires, will be

sent through electronic means for the individuals who are far away and personally for the

individuals who are close to the residence of the researchers.

To finish the form electronically, respondents should initially sign in with a

legitimate email address. The respondents should read the informed consent form,

understand, and if they will agree, they will select "yes" to show that they are willing to

participate. After consenting to participate, the respondent can start answering the research

instrument.

f.) Terms of Reference

The intellectual property of the study results will be owned by the researchers and

the research advertiser. No insurances are involved in this study.
