In 2002, another evaporator of area 50m2 was added. What was the cost the second evaporator?
Assume that cost of evaporators scale as (capacity)0.54. The Marshall and Swift index was 1048.5 in
1996 and 1116.9 in 2002.

A process plant was erected in city A for a direct cost of Rs. 250 lakh and indirect cost of Rs. 200 lakh
in 1987. Estimate the fixed capital investment in 1997 for a similar process plant located in city B
with 1.5 times the process capacity but with an equal number of process units.
Use power factor of 0.6. The Marshall and Swift Equipment index in 1987 and 1997 is 814 and
1056.8 respectively.
