1. Disclosure
A method and system for improving access to network content are described. Aspects of the
disclosure minimize the delay between a navigation event and a network response by
prerendering the next navigation event. For example, the method and system may predict a
likely next uniform resource locator during web browsing to preemptively request content from
the network before the user selects the corresponding link on a web page. The methods and
systems describe a variety of manners for prerendering content and managing and configuring
prerendering operations.

The invention claimed is:

A computer-implemented method for accessing network content, the method comprising:
determining a probability value, using a processor, for each of one or more links
associated with web content, the probability value indicating a likelihood that a user will
select the associated link;
determining whether the probability value satisfies at least one action threshold in a series
of action thresholds, each action threshold in the series being associated with an
increasingly aggressive network content access action; and
performing the network content access action associated with each action threshold in the
series of action thresholds based on a highest action threshold that the probability value
satisfies so as to reduce a delay in accessing network content upon selection of the
associated link, wherein performing comprises:
determining an amount of resources needed to perform the network content access
action;
comparing the amount of resources needed to perform the network content access action
to an amount of available resources; and
assigning a priority for performing the network content access action based on the
comparison and the probability value associated with the network content access action
associated with a highest action threshold that the probability value satisfies.

A first communication unit communicates with a first communication terminal device by using
a first communication scheme. A second communication unit communicates with a second
communication terminal device by using a second communication scheme capable of
communication over a longer distance than the first communication scheme. A search
instruction communicating unit communicates a search instruction to the second
communication terminal device via the second communication unit, the search instruction
including an identifier identifying a first communication terminal device, and instructing the
second communication terminal device to search for the first communication terminal device
by using the first communication scheme.

A portable apparatus is capable of switching between a plurality of smart cards and associated
circuits to provide a user various independent electronic wallet functions via a single portable
apparatus, thereby increasing utilization flexibility and convenience. The portable apparatus
includes at least a first smart card and a second smart cart, a near-field communication (NFC)
unit, and a control circuit. The first smart card and the second smart card respectively include
a first interface and a second interface. The NFC unit is coupled to the first smart card and the
second smart card via the first interface and the second interface, respectively. The NFC unit
is capable of performing NFC with external apparatuses. The control circuit controls the NFC
unit to communicate with either the first smart card or the second smart card using control
signals.

The invention claimed is:

1. A portable apparatus, comprising:
a first smart card, comprising a first interface;
a second smart card, comprising a second interface;
a near-field communication (NFC) unit, coupled to the first smart card via the first
interface and coupled to the second smart card via the second interface, wherein the NFC
unit performs electronic transaction on either the first smart card or the second smart
card according to an access command of an NFC reader; and
a control circuit, for controlling the NFC unit to communicate with either the first smart
card or the second smart card;
wherein the first smart card supports an electronic wallet function.

Embodiments generally disclosed herein include computer-implemented methods for delivery
of video content across a network. Such methods comprise a content delivery manager capable
of receiving a video stream from a content source for delivery to a end user of a content
publisher. The content delivery manager is further capable of detecting a trigger signal within
the video stream. For example, the trigger signal can indicate a temporal mark injected into the
video stream by the content publisher. During general operation, the content delivery manager
processes the trigger signal to determine whether to modify delivery of the video stream to the
end user. According to another general embodiment, a computer-implemented method is
provided for authorizing delivery of a video stream to an end user.

The invention claimed is:

. A computer-implemented method for authorizing delivery of a video stream to an end
user, wherein the video stream is associated with a content publisher, the method
comprising:
receiving a request from the end user for delivery of the video stream to the end user
across a network;
querying a subscription database associated with the content publisher;
in response, processing a reply from the subscription database to determine whether the
end user has authorization to receive delivery of the video stream; and
performing at least one of:
transmitting a notification to the end user indicating that the end user is not authorized
to receive delivery of the video stream based on the processing of the reply from the
subscription database; and
initiating delivery of the video stream to the end user based on the processing of the reply
from the subscription database, wherein the reply from the subscription database
indicates the end user is authorized to receive delivery of the video stream.
