WHY GODDESS SARASWATI IS WORSHIPPED?

Sharada or Saraswati is Goddess of music. She holds Veena in one hand and Vedas in
other. Unless she showers her blessings, any form of music lacks intensity. She is Vishwa-
mohini, Vag-vilasini i.e. Goddess of language as people
get mesmerized after reading a blessed writing. Any
writing is incomplete without her blessings.

Hinduism believes that before the beginning of this

universe there was word; Shabda-Brahma/Om-kara.
Being Goddess of language Sharada represents the
beginning of universe. Sharada is the ruler of attributes
like Cleverness, Commerce, Art. She bestows wisdom,
cleverness.
An intelligent person needs to know where to use his
intelligence and in the righteous way.

This aspect is illuminated by the Goddess Saraswati’s blessings. Intelligence when used in
the un-desired way leads to destruction of society (e.g corruption).

Bow & Arrow Activity
Material needed:2 broom sticks,
glue, newspaper, pencil, golden
ribbon, scissors.
Step 3: Cut on the lines just
drawn and open the fold. You
will see a diamond shape. Make
one more such diamond shape.
Step 6: Now on another piece of
newspaper, draw a shape shown
in the picture below.

Step 1:Take a long and strong
broom stick and tie the golden
ribbon on both the ends to make
the bow. See that it forms a D
shape.
Step 4: Now apply glue to
one diamond shape and
stick the other broom
stick as shown in the
picture.
Step 7: Now cut out the above
shape and cut out one more
piece of the same shape. So, now
you will have two shapes that
look like a x-mas tree when you
open it.
Now your bow and arrow is ready You can use it as a
prop in your play/drama.
However, please do not use it to aim and shoot others. It
can cause harm to them.
Step 2:Take a piece of
newspaper and fold it. Now
draw two lines near the fold
as shown in the picture

diamond shape on the other side.

Little Heros : Deepa kumari

Deepa Kumari was only 12 years old when she saved 2
children from drowning and crocodiles in Delaware
Rajasthan. The cool, deep waters of the Alwar palace lake in
Delwara looked inviting. Two children plunged into the waters
but got dragged out by the hidden currents towards the deep.
Deepa was washing clothes on the edge when she heard their
frantic shrieks. "My eyes focused on small heads bobbling up
and down," she recalls. She jumped in but soon got caught in
the current. "I heaved and pushed with as much force as I
could muster to reduce the distance between me and them,"
she adds, "and finally managed to bring the children to the
bank." A heartstopping moment was provided in between by a
stalking crocodile. "I don't know from where I got so much
strength at that time," states the class VI student of the local
high school. "I didn't think about the consequences, I just jumped straight in." Courage
comes naturally to her. A few years back she had rescued two more children from the lake.
Deepa wants to join the police when she grows up.

Ancient Science : Vedic Mathematics

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient
system of Indian Mathematics which was re-
discovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918
by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According
to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen
Sutras, or word-formulae. For example, 'Vertically
and Crosswise` is one of these Sutras. These
formulae describe the way the mind naturally works
and are therefore a great help in directing the student
to the appropriate method of solution.

The simplicity of Vedic Mathematics means that
calculations can be carried out mentally (though the
methods can also be written down). Vedic
mathematics is becoming very popular now a days
among the students of mathematics. Such a simple
yet profound system developed by the ancient Rishis
( scientists ) of Bharat and is one of the finest
examples of our contribution to the world.

Story - Apple Tree

!
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around
it everyday. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples,took a nap under the shadow... He
loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
!
Time went by... the little boy had grown up and he no
longer played around the tree everyday. One day, the
boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. "Come
and play with me," the tree asked the boy. "I am no
longer a kid, I don't play around trees anymore." The
boy replied, "I want toys. I need money to buy them."
"Sorry, but I don't have money...but you can pick all my
apples and sell them. So, you will have money." The boy
was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree
and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.

One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. "Come and play with me" the tree
said. "I don't have time to play. I have to work for family. We need a house for shelter.
Can you help me?" "Sorry, but I don't have a house. But you can chop off my branches
to build your house." So the boy cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree
was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again
lonely and sad.

One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. "Come and play with
me!" the tree said. "I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you
give me a boat?" "Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy."
So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a
long time.

Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. "Sorry, my boy. But I don't have
anything for you anymore. No more apples for you..." the tree said. "I don't have teeth to
bite" the boy replied. "No more trunk for you to climb on" "I am too old for that now"
the boy said. "I really can't give you anything ... the only thing left is my dying roots" the
tree said with tears. "I don't need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these
years." The boy replied. "Good! Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest.
Come, Come sit down with me and rest."

The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.......This is a story of
