CLASS REP ELECTION
• Class representatives must be elected by the class
and not appointed by academic staff.
• If a class exceeds 100 students two
representatives can be elected.
• Class representatives are the link between
academic staff and students and are to convey
issues related to the whole class.
CLASS REP ELECTION-CONTINUED
• Conveying issues should work as follows: At least
once every two weeks academic staff should allow
(the staff member must not be present) the class
representative to speak to the class.
• ALL issues raised must then be conveyed to the
academic staff member via email.
• If no issues were raised the academic staff
member must be informed as such.
CLASS REP ELECTION-CONTINUED
• Why email – to prevent he said/she said scenarios and
to leave evidence.
• The academic staff member concerned must then
engage with the issues via click-up, email, during class
or in further class discussions.
• If classes are not satisfied and an impasse is reached
then the class representatives need to speak to the
HOD. All of this is aimed at proactively dealing with
issues.
CLASS REP ELECTION-CONTINUED
• Individual issues must still be raised by the students
concerned with staff members. Class representatives
speak on behalf of the collective and not individuals.
• Once a semester the HOD will meet with all class
representatives.
• Class representatives that attend the meeting with the
HOD and do a solid job as a “go-between” will
receive a letter of commendation to be attached to a
CV.
CLASS ATTENDANCE
• Class attendance is compulsory.
• A register will be taken in each session.
• Although lecture notes will be posted on ClickUp,
students are encouraged to attend all lectures and use the
‘short-hand approach’ to write their own notes.
• Students are encouraged to read as many sources as
possible as they can – to enhance their knowledge of the
subject.
METHOD OF WORKING :
 -Sisebenzisa i-interactive and collaborative
methods of teaching and learning.
 -Sizosebenza ngamaqembu
(4-8 members).
-Iqembu ozolikhetha namuhla uzosebenza
nalo unyaka wonke.
METHOD OF WORKING

• “Interactive teaching is a means of instructing whereby the teachers actively involve

the students in their learning process by way of regular teacher-student interaction,
student-student interaction, use of audio-visuals, and hands-on demonstrations. The students
are constantly encouraged to be active participants.”
• “A collaborative (or cooperative) learning approach involves pupils working together on
activities or learning tasks in a group small enough to ensure that everyone
participates. Pupils in the group may work on separate tasks contributing to a common
overall outcome, or work together on a shared task.”
