ACKNOLEDGMENT
The success and final outcome of this project required a lot of guidance and
assistance from many people and I am extremely privileged to have got this all
along the completion of my project. All that I have done is only due to such
supervision and assistance and I would not forget to thank them.
I respect and thank Prof. KUMAR RATNAKAR SIR, for providing us an
opportunity to do the project work in DETD COURSE and giving us all support
and guidance which made me complete the project duly. I am extremely
thankful to him for providing such a nice support and guidance.
I owe my deep gratitude to our project guide Prof. R.C GUPTA SIR who took keen
interest on our project work and guided us all along, till the completion of our
project work by providing all the necessary information for developing a good
system.
BIO-GAS PLANT GENERATOR

BIO-GAS: Biogas refers to a mixture of different gases

produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of
oxygen. Biogas can be produced from raw materials such as
agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material,
sewage, green waste or food waste. Biogas is a renewable
energy source.
BIO-GAS PLANT: A biogas plant is an anaerobic digester
that produces biogas from animal wastes or energy crops.
Energy crops are cheap crops grown for the purpose of
biofuels, rather than food. Biofuels are liquid, gaseous, or
solid fuel made from live or recently dead organic
material known as biomass, as opposed to fossil fuels,
which are composed of ancient biological materials.
Biogas is a type of biofuel created via anaerobic, or
oxygen-free, digestion of organic matter by bacteria. A
biogas plant is composed of a digester and a gas holder.
COMPONENTS REQUIRED:
 2 container's size and material
 1 gas pipe
 1 gas control valve
 2 nut and bolt
 2 small rods
 2 supporters for the rods at the top of the drum
 PVC Pipe
 Digester seed material
 Digester feed stock Animal dung, vegetables.
 Tub for mixing water feed stock
WORKING

This is a model of floating type biogas plant.

As we described earlier about the
components, here we used two drums of Iron
sheets. One drum is fixed which is the outer
drum and the other one is placed inside the
fixed drum, and this is a movable drum, this
drum will move upward with the pressure of
the gas and comes down with the
consumption of the gas. There is one inlet
pipe from which slurry comes in the drum
and various organic and inorganic reactions
takes place inside the drum by which the gas
is produced and with the production of the
gas movable drum will lift upwards because of
the pressure of the gas, so the produced gas
will stored inside the tank itself. There is a gas
valve on the top of the movable tank we open
that valve when we want to do some work
with the help of produced gas, with the
opening of the valve the gas will starts to
come out in the gas pipe and at the end of the
pipe we used small burner for the output. As
the produced gas goes out from the drum our
movable drum will starts to coming back to
its initial position. Here we also have one
outlet pipe from which the waste slurry will
comes out from the drum as our movable
drum starts to comes back to its initial
position. For lifting the movable drum we
have used two thin rods which are supported
with. In this way our biogas plant will work.
The recycling of the slurry is the major
advantage of our floating type biogas plant.
ADVANTAGES

1. The technology is cheaper and much

simpler than those for other biofuels, and it
is ideal for small scale applications.
2. Recovery of the product (methane) is
spontaneous as the gas automatically
separates from the substrates.
3. Dilute waste material (2-10% solids) can
be used as substrate.
4. Organic pollutants are removed from the
environment and used to generate useful
biogas; this helps clean up the environment.
CALCULATION
 Water bottle capacity:-
20 lts water bottle
Dimensions are (Dia=28 cms, h=53 cms)
 Burner requires minimum pressure of 0.4-
0.5 psi to work
 Bio gas analysis
Average cattle yield is about 10 kg/day.
The average gas production from dung is
as 40 lit/kg.
The total dung required for production of
3𝑚3biogas is
=3/0.04 = 75 kgs
Hence, a minimum of 8 cattle is required
to generate the required quantity of cow
dung.
 In our model
We use 10kgs of cow dung and 10kgs of
water for slurry
We produce approximately
=0.04*10
=0.4𝑚3 of bio gas
We require a drum of
0.068*0.4=5*V
V=0.00544𝑚3 (at 5psi)
2πr* π0. 062 =0.00544
R=0.0764m = 7.64cm=3.01’’
So we can use 12’’ drum easily at low
pressure to allow gas to fill in drum.
COST
1. 2 drums of 250Rs each =500Rs
2. PVC pipe =50Rs
3. 2 elbows =20Rs
4. 2 sockets =20Rs
5. Gas valve =150Rs
6. 2 rods =30Rs
7. 1 gas pipe =90Rs
8. Burner assembly =70Rs
9. 2 rod guides =8Rs
10.Paint box =45Rs
11.Gas welding =50Rs
TOTAL =1033Rs
(All small items included)=1100Rs
