REFLECTION PAPER
“LUKAS”
The movie entitled “Lukas” was both an emotional and spiritual rollercoaster where
there were scenes of light-hearted comedy, scenes of emotional drama, rise of epic climaxes and
spiritual satisfaction. Initial impressions about it were low since it is of Filipino Production it will
be closely related to family ties; God and the hardships & turmoil one can find throughout one’s
life. There my attitude was to be serious but relaxed since it is a story about one’s faith to God
and my experience throughout of its entirety was exhilarating. Truly a wonderful mixed piece of
Filipino culture and heritage.

What can you relate about the various situations that happened throughout the movie?
There I felt the closeness of the main character to the Lord wherein he asked for his guide
towards the correct path of where he should trek and not stray upon the path that the Lord has
prepared for him. There from the start and till the end he hardened himself to start a journey for
the search for his real parents and his true name with help from God and his own friends,
acquaintances and the last words of his foster father in his dying breath. There I felt such close
resemblance between me and the main character wherein one lost one of their loved ones when
they’re supposed to be still correcting us towards the correct pathways and roads of out life. The
main character lost his foster parent and I lost my grandfather both from the same sickness and
yet from such terrible and misfortunate circumstances we still persevered to engage life with
such certainty and grace. That we need to persevere no matter what challenge or hardship has
God has given to us and that we shall emerge victorious so that the sacrifices that our loved ones
has made will not go in vain and they shall see that we who fought the darkness and its
temptations have neglected it by the light’s gradience.

In the end, no matter what obstacles that one may face in their paths, we must persevere
till we reached our goals. If there was ever a time in your lives that darkness seeped in to take the
place of the light, never let the spark dwindle to ash but let in run amok to a bright flame. God
will never leave us and our loved ones will always oversee us in the high heavens, never have the
thought that God has left you astray but he is always there beside us no matter where we are and
so long as we believe and have faith in him he will guide us in the correct path he sat for us.
