FORMAT: Essay format: headings and sections but no numbering

FOCUS: According to Griffin (2016, p. 15), Theory X and Theory Y developed by Douglas
McGregor examine two distinctive perspectives of those in management position toward their
subordinates. Discuss and analyse how your real-life experience reflected Theory X and Theory
Y.

REFLECTION

Step 1. Read your text book Fundamentals of Management and other texts and/or journals that
discuss Theory X and Theory Y and how those theories are applied in organisation settings.
Step 2. Reflect and think about your real-life experience.
Suggestion for the experiences includes (but not limited to): Part-time jobs, personal
activities, class projects, club activities, community services, high school camping fairs, travel
tours.
Step 3. Write your reflections in essay format. You may use headings for different sections.

Hints: (Not for constructing your essay in the questions & answers format):
1. How theory X and theory X are relevant to management situation regarding your real-life
experience (in the workplace/organization settings)?
2. Identify and analyse success or failure in management regarding that experience.
3. In what ways does the information you have learned about theory X and theory X in the
workplace/organization settings help your understanding of manager and employee
behaviour in workplace/organisational settings?
4. What lessons in management did you learn from the situation(s)?

You must use a minimum of 2 references for the Reflection:


 1 text book: Fundamentals of Management (Ricky W.Griffin); plus one ( 1) other
credible source: journal article or book.

REFERENCING

1. Papers with incorrect referencing will receive no more than a 6.0 grade
2. Papers with no citations will receive no more than a 4.5 grade.
3. Papers with no reference list at the end of the assignment will receive no more than a 4.5
grade.

5. The APA Referencing Style must be applied.
6. Footnotes must not be used as a referencing style.
