1. A.) Air (mostly N2 & O2)

B.) Soda (CO2 in H2O)
C.) Vodka (C2 H2 OH in H2O)
D.) Seawater (NaCl in H2O)
E.) Brass (Zn in Cu)

2. Molarity is the measurement of moles of solution.

Solubility is the amount of solute that can dissolve a
given amount of solvent. They are directly related to each
other.

3. Molarity is the ratio of moles to volume of the solution

(mol/g). Molality is the ratio of moles to the mass of a
solvent (mol/kg). Molarity and Molality are both measure
of a concentration of a chemical solution.

4. Temperature, Nature of solute/solvent, pressure.

5. A.) True
B.) True

6. Mass% = mass solute x 100%

mass soln

M% = 2.32g x 100% = 2.79%

53.32

7. V% = V solute x 100%
V of soln
= 18mol x 100% = 78.26%
24mol

8. Moles = 44.9
128.17
= 0.350mol
175g = 175
1000
= 0.175 kg

9. A.) Concentrated and Dilute

Concentrated has relatively large quantity of a specific solute
per unit amount of time.
Dilute has a relatively small quantity of the same solute per
unit amount of solution.

B.) Saturated, Unsaturated and Supersaturated

Saturated- A solution with solute that dissolves unit, it is
unable to dissolve anymore, leaving the undissolved
substances at the bottom.
Unsaturated- A solution (with less solute than the saturated
solution that completely dissolves leaving no remaining
substance.
Supersaturated- A solution ( with more than the saturated
solution) that contains more undissolved solute than the
saturated solution because of its tendency to crystallize and
precipitate.
