Reflection Paper: The ethical dilemma we face on AI and autonomous tech| Christine Fox

Over the year technology has been growing fast. Technology is often changing our lives to
make things easier and better. We are all surrounded by all forms of modern technology. From T.V.s
up to phone from our very own computer to the appliances we used. All these technologies
contributed a lot to our daily routines. Technology has been a very big help for humans, but how long
these technologies can help us, and on the other side how can we protect the technologies that made
our lives easier.

The video about the ethical dilemma we face on AI and autonomous technology made me
realize a lot of things, especially when using the technology. The ethical issue in this video is that the
use of technology is being abused by humans. The question who decides “should”? became an
unsolvable puzzle in my mind today, I have realized that technologies are like humans they should
also have to be taken care of. No one decides for technologies. No one decides to protect the
technology we all use for a better living. Technologies help develop human capabilities and explore
boundless opportunities. But after technologies do their job, do humans protect technologies in
conflicts?

Christine Fox said, “Technology is going so fast, that the policymakers have fallen behind”,
the use of technology is appearing everywhere and became very common. But it seems like we do
not appreciate the help of the technology we use. Artificial intelligence and autonomous technologies
like robots act like humans, do things like humans and help humans but no one decides to protect
them like humans. There is no such policy that says that they should be protected like humans. “Who
decides the cyber protection in our friend robot?” No one.

It is never too late to protect technology; it is never too late to make policies to protect them.
We should do our part as humans who use technology to decide for them, to decide things that will
be in favor of them. We should decide better things for them. We, humans, have the power to protect
them. Technology will be forever part of our lives, policies that would protect have to follow.
