MODULE IN STATISTICS & PROBABILITY

QUARTER 3
WEEK 7/7A
Name: Rionyle John B. Pailma
Grade&Section: 11-Ayala
Lesson 1

Activity 5: Perform Me! WRITTEN WORK

Question: If a sample is drawn from a population, what happens to the

standard error of the mean and the shape of the distribution if the sample size
is increased from 50 to 200?

Claim: If 50 sample are taken from the populations and expanded to 200, the
standard error of the mean will be further expanded, while tthe dispersion
status remains unchanged.

Evidence: Obiviously, the respondent’s answer is fluctuating, which means the

standard error of the average increment. Given that all interviews reponded to
similar survey arrangements, the state of dissemination has remained the
same as before.

Reasoning: The More answer you get from respondent, The morelikely it is that
standard error of the average will increase. In ay case, the circulation status
remains unchanged.

Lesson 2
What’s More:
Given: μ=6 σ=1.25
A. P = x̅− μ / σ
P = 7.5 – 6 / 1.25
P = 1.5 / 1.25
P = 1.2
Solving for the probability of P = 1.2 is 0.3849
So, the probability of the randomly selected student watches television for
exactly 7.5 hours is 0.3849 or 38.49%.

B. to calculate, P(x̅<6)
P(x̅<6)= P(z< x̅− μ/ σ /√n)
P(x̅<6)= P(z< 6 -6/1.25)
P(x̅<6)= P(z< 0/1.25)
P(x̅<6)= P(z< 0)
Solving for the probability of P(z< 0)
P(z< 0) = 0.50 + P (0 < z < 0)
P(z< 0) = 0.50 + 0.0000
P(z< 0) = 0.50 0r 50%
So, the probability of the randomly selected student watches television for less
than 6 hours is 0.50 0r 50%.

C. to calculate, P(x̅>7.5)
P(x̅<7.5)= P(z< x̅− μ/ σ /√n)
P(x̅<7.5)= P(z< 7.5 – 6/1.25)
P(x̅<7.5)= P(z<1.5/1.25)
P(x̅<7.5)= P(z<1.2)
Solving for the probability of P(z< 1.2)
P(z<1.2) = 0.50 + P (1.2 < z < 0)
P(z<1.2) = 0.50 + 0.3849
P(z<1.2) = 0.8849 or 88.49%
So, the probability ofthe randomly selected student watches television for more
than 7.5 hours is 0.8849 or 88.49%
