Professional Information
Overall aim of the course
Rational Procurement describes the process of buying, learning of the need, locating and selecting a
supplier, negotiating price and other pertinent terms, and following up to ensure delivery. In
addition, it includes stores, traffic, receiving, incoming inspection, and salvage of goods.
Course objective Objectives: The objectives for this course support the mission statement for the School of
Business and expected learning outcomes for the B.B.A. in the specific area of Procurement
Management and supply chain management. These objectives are
1. To introduce students to a process-based approach to procurement.
2. To raises students’ awareness of the importance and complexity of business
supply management and purchasing activities in organizations.

3. To imparts to students the concepts, theories and tools of procurement at both


business and tactical levels.

4. To help students develop their competence and confidence in formulating


appropriate procurement mix in different business situations.
Students learning time (Total 125 hours)
a) Face to face 45 hours (lectures including class tests)
b) Independent 80 hours (Library, internet, assignments, home study etc.)
