To Whom it May Concern,

This is a letter of recommendation for Miranda McArdle for consideration for an entry level position
in the public relations and advertising field. As a professor who has taught Miranda in numerous
courses at Point Park University, I highly recommend her for this next step in her professional career.

Miranda’s strengths clearly lie in her exemplary organizational and communication skills, both oral
and written. As a student in my classes, Miranda was always asked to complete a series of
assignments that challenged her to apply course theories to everyday activities. This included being
an integral part of a team that developed a full event for a nonprofit client in my Special Events class.
She also was highly praised for work she did with a special event planner who she shadowed for the
semester.

In all her assignments and class discussions, Miranda consistently provided insight that exhibited
mastery of concepts and advanced learning. She completed all assignments on time and with great
detail, and often participated in class discussions and presentations that involved a good
understanding of the field. These skills will certainly serve her well in her future career.

I also had the pleasure of working with Miranda outside of the classroom as my practicum student for
one semester. During this time, Miranda researched, wrote and developed a wide variety of
communication pieces for the School of Communication. Also during this time, she led a group of
students who developed the highly successful PRSSA CORE Challenge event on campus that raised
awareness of organ donation to the student community. As the project manager for this event, she
was instrumental in making sure everything regarding the event was organized and ran smoothly. Her
work and the work of her student team was so impressive that the CORE Challenge placed in a
statewide competition among other schools promoting donor awareness and won a prestigious PRSA
Pittsburgh Renaissance Award for student campaigns.

I have been very impressed with Miranda’s academic and personal acumen, her drive for the field of
communications and for learning in general. She approaches everything she does with a great deal of
passion, commitment and enthusiasm. She was an exemplary student who has the proven
organizational and personal skills that are essential to professional success. Because of this, it is my
pleasure to recommend her for consideration for employment in public relations and advertising.

If you have any questions or would like to talk further about Miranda’s qualifications, please feel free
to call me at 412-215-0556.

Sincerely,

Camille P. Downing
