Effective with sales to the first user on or after January 1, 2005

CATERPILLAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Shop Supplies, Tools, Contractor Products, and Caterpillar Service Tools
Worldwide
Caterpillar Inc. or any of its subsidiaries (“Caterpillar”) warrants selected Shop Supplies,
Tools, Contractor Products and Caterpillar Service Tools to be free from defects in material
and workmanship for the following periods beginning with the date of purchase by the first
user. Selected products covered by this warranty are identified in the Caterpillar Dealer
Service Tool Catalog (NENG2500) and the Caterpillar Shop Supplies, Tools, and Contractor
Products Warranty Information CD (PERJ0051).
For Diagnostic Tools, Other Designated Tools, Specialty Tools, and Shop Equipment,
the warranty periods may be Lifetime, 12 months, 6 months, or as otherwise identified in the
Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog (NENG2500).
For Designated Hand Tools, Contractor Products, Shop Supplies, and Power Tools, the
warranty periods may be Lifetime, 12 months, or 6 months or as otherwise identified in the
Caterpillar Shop Supplies, Tools, and Contractor Products Warranty Information CD
(PERJ0051).
For Caterpillar Branded Paints, Chemicals, and Shop Fluids, warranty coverage is for
defects at time of purchase or as otherwise identified in the Caterpillar Shop Supplies, Tools,
and Contractor Products Warranty Information CD (PERJ0051).
The Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog (NENG2500) and the Caterpillar Shop Supplies,
Tools, and Contractor Products Warranty Information CD (PERJ0051) are available for
inspection at Caterpillar dealers and other establishments authorized by Caterpillar.
Caterpillar Responsibilities
• If a defect in material or workmanship is found during the warranty period stated above,
Caterpillar will, during normal working hours and at a place of business of a Caterpillar
dealer or other source approved by Caterpillar, provide (at Caterpillar’s choice) new or
repaired parts or assembled components needed to correct the defect.
Note: Items replaced under this warranty become the property of Caterpillar.
User Responsibilities
The user is responsible for:
• Providing proof of sale date to the first user.
• Taxes, labor or transportation costs, which may result from replacement.
Limitations
• Caterpillar is not responsible for failures resulting from alterations, abuse, neglect, normal
wear or any use in which Caterpillar judges improper.

For products operating outside of Australia, Fiji, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand,
Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Tahiti, the following is applicable:
NEITHER THE FOREGOING EXPRESS WARRANTY NOR ANY OTHER WARRANTY
BY CATERPILLAR, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IS APPLICABLE TO ANY ITEM
CATERPILLAR SELLS WHICH IS WARRANTED DIRECTLY TO THE USER BY ITS
MANUFACTURER.
THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. REMEDIES UNDER THIS WARRANTY ARE LIMITED
TO THE PROVISION OF MATERIAL AND SERVICES, AS SPECIFIED HEREIN.
CATERPILLAR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES.
CATERPILLAR EXLUDES ALL LIABILITY FOR OR ARISING FROM ANY NEGLIGENCE
ON ITS PART OR THE PART OF ANY OF ITS EMPLOYEES, AGENTS OR
REPRESENTATIVES IN RESPECT OF THE MANUFACTURE OR SUPPLY OF GOODS
SELF5389-01 OR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES RELATING TO THE GOODS.
IF OTHERWISE APPLICABLE, THE VIENNA CONVENTION (CONTRACTS FOR THE
INTERNATIONAL SALE OF GOODS) IS EXCLUDED IN ITS ENTIRETY.
For products operating in Australia, Fiji, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand,
Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Tahiti, the following is applicable:
THIS WARRANTY IS IN ADDITION TO WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS IMPLIED BY
STATUTE AND OTHER STATUTORY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS THAT BY ANY
APPLICABLE LAW CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, RESTRICTED OR MODIFIED
(“MANDATORY RIGHTS”). ALL OTHER WARRANTIES OR CONDITIOINS,
EXPRRESS OR IMPLIED (BY STATUTE OR OTHERWISE), ARE EXCLUDED.
NEITHER THIS WARRANTY NOT ANY OTHER CONDITION OR WARRANTY BY
CATERPILLAR, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED (SUBJECT ONLY TO THE MANDATORY
RIGHTS), IS APPLICABLE TO ANY ITEM CATERPILLAR SELLS WHICH IS
WARRANTED DIRECTLY TO THE USER BY ITS MANUFACTURER.
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER THE MANDATORY RIGHTS, IF CATERPILLAR
IS THE SUPPLIER TO THE USER, CATERPILLAR’S LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED AT
ITS OPTION TO (a) IN THE CASE OF SERVICES, THE SUPPLY OF THE SERVICES
AGAIN OR THE PAYMENT OF THE COST OF HAVING THE SERVICES SUPPLIED
AGAIN, AND (b) IN THE CASE OF GOODS, THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE
GOODS, THE SUPPLY OF EQUIVALENT GOODS, THE PAYMENT OF THE COST OF
SUCH REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OR THE ACQUISITION OF EQUIVALENT GOODS.
CATERPILLAR EXCLUDES ALL LIABILITY FOR OR ARISING FROM ANY
NEGLIGENCE ON ITS PART OR ON THE PART OF ANY OF ITS EMPLOYEES,
AGENTS OR REPRESENTATIVES IN RESPECT OF THE MANUFACTURE OR SUPPLY
OF GOODS OR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES RELATING TO THE GOODS.
CATERPILLAR IS NOT LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES

This warranty covers every major component of the products. Claims under this warranty
should be submitted to a place of business of a Caterpillar dealer or other source

The Dealer Service Tool Catalog offers Caterpillar dealers and customers a wide selection of general purpose serviceman’s
hand tools, tool boxes, shop supplies, shop equipment and specialty tools.
All orders placed from the Caterpillar Miscellaneous Material Order System for this publication will automatically place
you on a subscription list. The subscription will provide you with three Dealer Service Tool Catalog Supplements
containing new tools and equipment introduced between the annual revisions of the Dealer Service
Tool Catalog.
If you do not wish to receive the supplements and do not wish to be added to the subscription list when you order,
you must place a verbal order with your order analyst and tell the order analyst at that time not to add your name
to the subscription mailing list. However, doing this will prevent you from receiving information on new part numbers
introduced over the next twelve months.
Tool Warranty
Tool Warranty is described in Form SELF5389-01 Warranty Statement stated on the back of the first page of the catalog.

Caterpillar Inc. warrants all products sold, against defects in workmanship or materials under normal
use, for Six Months after date of purchase, unless otherwise stated.

Certain other products are warranted against defects in workmanship or materials under normal use for either one year
from date of purchase or lifetime (stated as One Year or Lifetime).

Ordering Procedure
The majority of the products listed in this publication are stocked at Caterpillar parts facilities and are available from
the Parts Distribution System using normal stock or emergency ordering routines. These include hand tools, pneumatic tools,
torque and electronic tools, reconditioning tools, welding products, certain chemicals, preventative maintenance tools, etc.

Prices and Returned Goods

Prices
Prices are subject to change without notice. Standard dealer
payment terms apply for any product ordered from this guide
with a Caterpillar part number (whether it is stocked or not).
Regular dealer net and consumer list prices can be found in
the Caterpillar Dealer Parts Pricing Medium or in the Parts
Distribution DTS Inquiry system.
Returned Goods
All product, listed in this publication, is returnable except:
• Direct ship and Made as Ordered (MAO) items.
• Chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Electrical test/diagnostic tools and associated accessories.
Dealers should refer to the Cat Dealer Numerical Parts Record
(NPR) to determine if a questionable item is returnable or not.
