Srinagar joins UNESCO’s network of creative cities
 UNESCO has announced the addition of Srinagar to its network of creative cities.
 Srinagar has been designated as a “Creative City of Craft and Folk Arts”.
 From India, Srinagar joins Chennai and Varanasi (both UNESCO cities of music), Jaipur
(crafts and folk arts), Mumbai (film), and Hyderabad (gastronomy).
 The “UNESCO Network” now has nearly 300 from 90 countries.
Chamba chappal, Lahaul’s knitted socks, gloves get GI tag
 Chamba chappal, Lahaul’s knitted socks and gloves have been granted Geographical
Indications (GI) tag from the Union government’s Geographical Indications registrar.
 Kullu Shawl, Kangra Tea, Chamba Rumal, Kinnauri Shawl, Kangra Painting, Himachali Chulli
Oil and Himachali Kalazeera are also the traditional products of Himachal Pradesh which
will get protection under GI Act, 1999.
Fourth Scorpene submarine 'Vela' delivered to Indian Navy
 The fourth submarine of the Project – 75, Yard 11878 was delivered to the Indian Navy on 9
November 2021.
 Project – 75 includes the construction of six submarines of Scorpene design.
 These submarines are being constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL)
Mumbai, under collaboration with M/s Naval Group, France.
 Called ‘Vela’, the submarine was launched on 6 May 2019.
Wang Yaping becomes first Chinese woman to walk in space
 Astronaut Wang Yaping has become the first Chinese woman to walk in space.
 She is a part of a six-month mission to the country’s space station.
 Wang, along with astronauts Zhai Zhigang, and Ye Guangfu are part of the crew.
 Tiangong, meaning “heavenly palace”, is a crucial part of China’s military-led drive to
become a leading space power.
CV Raman's 133rd birth anniversary: 7 November 2021
 7 November 2021 marked the 133rd birth anniversary of Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata
Raman also called C. V. Raman.
 He was the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930.
 He was also awarded a Bharat Ratna in 1954.
 He was born on November 7, 1888 in Trichy.
 He discovered the Raman scattering and the process, the Raman Effect.
 He passed away on November 21, 1970.

Delhi government launches 'Shramik Mitra' scheme


 The Delhi government launched 'Shramik Mitra' scheme on 8 November 2021.
 It will ensure that the benefits of various programmes reach construction workers.
 As part of it, 800 'Shramik Mitras' will reach out to construction workers, inform them about
the schemes launched by the Delhi govt, connect them with relevant government schemes,
and ensure that no worker is left out of any programmes.
Sheel Vardhan Singh appointed CISF DG; Atul Karwal is new NDRF Chief
 The government has announced the appointment of chiefs of two key Central Armed Police
Forces.
 These are the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the National Disaster Response
Force (NDRF).
 Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau Sheel Vardhan Singh has been appointed as CISF
Director General (DG).
 National Police Academy Director Atul Karwal has been appointed as the NDRF DG.
RBI launches its first global hackathon 'HARBINGER 2021'
 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 9 November 2021 announced the launch of its first global
hackathon 'HARBINGER 2021 – Innovation for Transformation'.
 Its theme would be ‘Smarter Digital Payments’.
 The winner will get Rs 40 lakh, and the runner-up will be awarded Rs 20 lakh.
 The registration for RBI HARBINGER 2021 commences on November 15, 2021, and culminates
on December 15.
New book titled “Nehru: The Debates that Defined India” launched
 Authors Tripurdaman Singh and Adeel Hussain have come up with a new book titled 'Nehru:
The Debates that Defined India'.
 The book serves as a revisionist exploration of India's first and longest-serving Prime Minister
Jawaharlal Nehru and investigates the overlooked role of his contemporaries and
opponents in shaping his political vision.
 The book was released on 11 November 2021.
Salman Khurshid comes up with new book 'Sunrise over Ayodhya'
 Veteran Congress leader Salman Khurshid has come up with his new book titled 'Sunrise
over Ayodhya'.
 The book is on the Supreme Court verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.
 The book launch event was held on 10 November 2021.
 Through this book, Salman Khurshid explores how the greatest opportunity that the
judgment offers is a reaffirmation of India as a secular society.

Sudha Murthy comes up with new book "The Sage with Two Horns"
 Chairman of Infosys Foundation and a renowned author, Sudha Murthy has come up with
her new book titled “The Sage with Two Horns: Unusual Tales from Mythology”.
 It is the 5th and final book of the series “Unusual Tales from Mythology”.
 The series features stories of kings and queens, gods and goddesses, sages, and men and
women of extraordinary wisdom.
Cabinet declares 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas
 The Union Cabinet has approved the declaration of 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav
Divas.
 The day is dedicated to the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters.
 The date is the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.
 He fought bravely against the exploitative system of the British colonial system and
spearheaded the movement against British oppression giving a call for ‘Ulgulan’
(Revolution).
Global Drug Policy Index 2021: India ranked 18th
 The inaugural Global Drug Policy Index was released by the Harm Reduction Consortium in
November 2021.
 Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, the UK, and Australia are the five leading countries on
humane and health-driven drug policies.
 The five lowest-ranking countries are Brazil, Uganda, Indonesia, Kenya, and Mexico.
 India’s rank is 18 out of 30 countries.
India retains top 10 slot in Climate Performance Index 2022
 India has retained its spot at the 10th rank in the best-performing countries in the global
Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2022 for the third year in a row.
 The report was released by Germanwatch on the side-lines of the COP26.
 As a result, the top three places in the overall ranking remain empty once again.
 Denmark placed 4th and is the highest-ranked country in CCPI 2022.
United Arab Emirates to host COP28 in 2023
 The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has announced that the UAE
will host the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in 2023.
 It will be the second time that the annual talks will be held in the Middle East, and the third
time the talks are hosted by a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting
Countries (OPEC)
 Qatar hosted in 2012 and Indonesia did in 2007.
Fumio Kishida re-elected Japan’s Prime Minister
 Fumio Kishida was re-elected as Japan’s Prime Minister on 10 November 2021 after his

governing party scored a major victory in key parliamentary elections.


 Elected just over a month ago by parliament, Kishida called a quick election in which his
governing party secured 261 seats in the 465-member lower house.
 He was elected as PM of Japan on 4 October 2021.
