1 GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
BTL CardioPoint is a software system designed for multiple cardiology and spirometric examinations. Moreover,
BTL CardioPoint serves as a joint patient database, provides functionality to support teamwork and a possibility of
integration with third party systems. BTL CardioPoint is widely used by cardiologists, pneumologists as well as
general practitioners.

1.1 MODULES

The BTL CardioPoint-Holter software, together with a compatible Holter recorder, serves
as a system for recording and evaluating ambulatory ECG. BTL CardioPoint-Holter is capable
of recording up to 12 ECG leads; it also supports multi-day recordings. After the ECG acquisition, it
is possible to review and evaluate the record. The software provides functions such as various ECG
signal screens, a well-arranged set of statistics and useful tools for fast record reviewing. All
examination data including a medical report are digitally stored in the unified patient database and
can be opened or printed anytime later.

The BTL CardioPoint-Ergo software is a software module for stress-test examinations. It is

designed for recording and evaluating ECG waveforms. Optionally, automatized blood pressure or
SpO2 measurement or breath-by-breath gas analysis can be performed if an appropriate
compatible device is connected. All examination data including a medical report are digitally stored
in the unified patient database and can be opened or printed anytime later.

The BTL CardioPoint-Spiro software, together with a compatible pneumotachograph, is a system

designed for spirometry examinations such as Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Slow Vital Capacity
(SVC) or Maximum Voluntary Ventilation (MVV). Extended spirometric examinations such
as bronchodilation and bronchoprovocation tests are available as well. The software allows its user
to choose from a number of predictive norms, to choose the required spirometric parameters or to
define a new protocol for tests with medication. The software provides its users with a detailed and
well-arranged analysis, automatic interpretation and serial comparison of records in trends. All
examination data including a medical report are digitally stored in the unified patient database
and can be opened or printed anytime later.

The BTL CardioPoint-ABPM software, together with the compatible ABPM recorder, serves
as a system for ambulatory non-invasive blood pressure measurements and consequent evaluation
of the measured data. The software allows its user to define measuring intervals and select
a suitable standard for data evaluation. When the data is recorded, it is possible to review it, edit it
and evaluate it according to the selected standard. The software displays the data in a well-
arranged layout. All examination data including a medical report are digitally stored in the unified
patient database and can be opened or printed anytime later.

The BTL CardioPoint-ECG software, together with a compatible ECG device, serves as a system
for recording and evaluating resting ECG. It displays and records the ECG in real-time, it also
processes already recorded ECG signals, both from an ECG device or from another workstation.
The software provides functions such as automatic or manual ECG measurements, serial
comparison with other ECG records, diagnostic interpretation suggestions or a report editor. All
examination data including a medical report are digitally stored in the unified patient database
and can be opened or printed anytime later.

The BTL CardioPoint Login is authentication method defined by user name and password in BTL CardioPoint
database. The list of such users is managed by user in Administrator Role.

4.5.1.2 ACTIVE DIRECTORY LOGIN

Active Directory Login authenticates users from Windows Active Directory. Such user has same username and
password for Windows and BTL CardioPoint and other systems. Windows administrators can manage BTL
CardioPoint users easily by defining specific groups of users in Active Directory. These users are allowed to log
into BTL CardioPoint. It is recommended to use Active Directory for hospitals and larger organizations. For more
details about Active Directory ask your Windows IT Administrator.

There are some restrictions regarding Active Directory logins. Active Directory Login is supported only in a
network installation. Active Directory users are not allowed to be in Administrator role. If the Active Directory
Service is not available, it is not possible to log in BTL CardioPoint.

4.5.2 USER ROLES

4.5.2.1 ADMINISTRATOR ROLE

A user in the Administrator Role is allowed to manage accounts, view user activity, delete patient. User is allowed
to change the password to the current login account or any other account if this user is a local administrator in
Windows as well.

4.5.2.2 USER ROLE

A user in the User Role is allowed to do anything else except what is restricted by Administrator Role.

4.6 LICENSING
BTL CardioPoint is secured with a software license. For proper use, required protection must be present in the
PC. To get information about the protection for each particular module, please refer to the User's Manual of that
module.

4.6.1 HARDWARE PROTECTION

Hardware protection differs for each module. Hardware protection is always delivered with the device.

4.6.2 SOFTWARE LICENSE

The Software license is a file defining which BTL CardioPoint modules are purchased and
therefore should work with no restrictions. When the license file is obtained, download the license
to the PC and load the license by double-clicking on the file. Dialog window “License was loaded
successfully.” appears.

4.6.3 CONTENT OF LICENCE FILE

The main screen of BTL CardioPoint is called Patient List, and it is displayed when BTL CardioPoint is launched.
The Patient List provides user with the possibility to work with patient data and examination data.

Patient List is divided into the following parts:

(A) Steps where the user can switch between:
All Patients, Patient Details (for selected Patient from section D), Patient Examinations (for selected Patient from
section D).
(B) Patient List Filter where patients can be filtered by:
Card Index, Examination Status, Examination Type, Date of examination.
If any filter is on, only patients with existing examinations matching the chosen filter option will be shown in the
patient list.
(C) Icons in the bottom panel
In the bottom panel, the user can:
Create a new Patient, edit an existing Patient, start or load Examinations for a Selected Patient, open
Examination, refresh Patient List, share selected Examination. (For more information about icons that start
examinations from the bottom panel, see Chapter “Operations with Examinations”).
NOTE: The user should avoid using the invalid characters (such as: <; >; “; /; \; ?...) in creating new patient name.

5.1.1 EXAMINATION LIST
The Examination list can be accessed by double-clicking on the selected patient. It shows a list of all existing
examinations and general information for the selected patient.

In the Examination list, there is also a summary of basic information about the particular examination – type of
examination, its ID, status, date and time when the examination was started, and its access type.

5.1.2 EXAMINATION STATUS

Examination status represents a stage of processing. It is displayed in the Examination list.

The statuses “New”, “Ordered”, “Recording” and “Recorded” change automatically according to the progress of
the recording. The statuses “Partially processed” and “Approved” are selected by the user when closing the

Recording – The Examination is being recorded. Examination data have not yet been transferred to the PC.

Recorded – The Examination has been recorded and loaded into BTL CardioPoint, but the evaluation has not yet
been performed. It is possible to view the examination record.

Partially processed (1/2) – The Examination has been pre-processed. The “Partially processed” status is
available for the Network installation only.

Approved – The Examination is completely processed and approved. No further action is necessary.

5.1.3 EXAMINATION ACCESS TYPE
