WHAT IS IT? WHY NOW?

 ewBus Burlington-Camden-Gloucester is
the first ever initiative to reimagine the local
bus network serving Camden, Philadelphia,
and the surrounding counties.
• T
 he NewBus Burlington-Camden-
Gloucester team will assess the
performance of 27 bus routes as well
as demographic trends and emerging
development patterns to understand:
• Where people live
• Where people work
• How people travel

 J TRANSIT will use community input and
study findings to design a new network that
addresses current
mobility needs.
• Addressing customer needs with a redesigned bus network
provides an opportunity to enhance the customer experience
and improve access to transit service that connects residents
and employees with opportunities throughout the Delaware
Valley and beyond.
• As travel patterns change, new developments are built, and
new technology emerges, NJ TRANSIT needs to respond by
reinvigorating under-performing service.
• Local bus ridership has been declining in recent years, including
in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties. Declining
ridership is a sign that the current network may not meet the
community’s changing transportation needs.
• While the region emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the
transportation system needs to be strengthened to remain
resilient as travel patterns continue to evolve.
