BACK TO
SCHOOL!
Welcome to the 2021-22 school
year! We hope that you all enjoyed
your summer break with your friends
and families. As we return to school,
we encourage families to partake in
Meet the Teacher night, August 19th,
where students will be able to tour
the facility, meet their teachers, and
sign up for Fall extracurricular
activities. Students will also be
entered to win free back to school
supplies such as backpacks, pens,
pencils, notebooks, binders, earbuds,
and much more! We encourage
families to attend and have any
questions they may have answered
by teachers or administrators.

Throughout the Summer, various
educators discussed revamping their
teaching strategies in the classroom.
An idea that struck a chord was the
Multiple Intelligences by Howard
Gardner. This theory presented eight
different types of intelligences:
Linguistic, Logical/Mathematical,
Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Musical,
Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and
Naturalistic.
During this school year, there will be
various teachers implementing new
activities in their classrooms to help all
students learn in ways they best
comprehend.

End of First Quarter: October 15th
For example, for our spatial
learners, classes will be creating
various diagrams, charts and
pictures which will best help them
process information. Our Musical
learners may benefit from rhymes
in correlation to topics of
discussion. These rhymes may be a
product of a class group project or
assignment.
Ultimately, our goal is to aide
every student’s learning preference
to best help them learn and retain
information, resulting in a
successful school year. If you or
your child have any questions or

NOTES FROM THE
COUNSELORS
Seniors as asked to visit the guidance
counselor at their assigned times to begin
their post-secondary education plans.
During this visit they will be allowed to
register for college visits and one on one
counseling sessions with an academic
advisor, if desired.
For the first quarter we will be
visiting literature between 1960 to
1990, starting with Toni Morrison’s
Beloved. Students will be expected
to do most of their reading outside
of the classroom. In class we will
discuss the events of what was read
and why these events unfolded. At
the end of each reading there will be
OUR NEXT AREA an exam.
OF FOCUS
 No cellphone usage will be
tolerated in the classroom,
unless instructed by your
teacher.
 Hall passes will be
required to use the
restroom or to visit the
library, guidance
counselor, secretary, or

principal.
Preplanned absences must
be discussed with your
teacher to go over material
you will need to complete
missed assignments.
BOOK OF THE
MONTH: Beloved
by Toni Morrison
Pulitzer-Prize winning author,
Toni Morrison shed light on
slavery in modern literature,
enlarging our comprehension of
America’s original sin. This novel
is set in post-Civil War Ohio
about an escaped slave named
Sethe, revolving around her post-
slavery struggles of everyday life.
This story is both heartwarming
and heart wrenching as Toni takes
you through the hardships of
overcoming past abuse and losses.
I encourage each student to read
this novel, as it is the first we will
examine this school year.
