Premier Networking and Community Linkage Through Online/Face-To-Face Tutorials DAY - 6
DAY _6_
OBJECTIVES
The student is expected to:
Describe the concepts involving Digital Circuits like Binary numbers
Solve problem on binary numbers.
Convert numbers among bases.
Value the importance of number systems.
STRATEGIES
Define and discuss the common number systems and conversion of number systems among
bases in clear and understandable manner.
Inquiry based learning
Demonstration and Problem Solving
Pause procedure: Taking a break every 5 minutes so that student have time to discuss and ask
questions.
Muddiest point: Asking the student to write down which point in the lesson is the least clear to
him.
SUMMARY REPORT
I began presenting the intended learning objectives that we needed to achieve after the one-hour
session on the sixth day of our lesson. Following that, I started the conversation by outlining the four most
common types of number systems (Binary, Decimal, Octal, and Hexadecimal Number System). Following that, I
utilized inquiry-based learning as well as YouTube videos to demonstrate how to convert number systems
depending on their bases. I also utilized the pause procedure, giving him a 5-minute break after every 20
minutes of discussion and then enabling him to ask me questions on whatever he wanted to emphasize. I've
even used the "muddiest point" strategy. Using the muddiest point approach, I observed that he had an
unclear understanding of number system conversion. As a response, I offered some problem solving and
demonstrated how to convert every number system so that he could have a better knowledge of the topic.
We also watched some YouTube lesson videos on the conversion of each number system. Furthermore, we
addressed the significance like that in all areas or fields, such as in the IT course. I assured him that even in
such a short period of time, all of the information I wanted him to know about his lesson would be delivered
and comprehended. Finally, I gave him ample time to complete his module activities on his own in order to
assess his improvement. The next day, I checked his answers on his module, and the most of them were right.
In conclusion, I determined that the targeted learning objectives were reached, as well as that the approach
and techniques I employed were beneficial.
Midpoint of Lesson
New thing I have learnt includes the definition of number system as well as the
common types of it which is binary, decimal, octal, and hexadecimal number system. I also
learned how to compute or convert every number system to each other (e.g. binary to
decimal).
End of Lesson
I am now confident that I can discuss what are the common types of number system as
well as the meaning of number system itself. That number system is the system of naming or
representing numbers and it helps to count or measure objects and it helps in performing
various mathematical calculations. In addition to that, I am now confident that I can now
convert every type of number system according to their bases (e.g. binary to decimal or vice
versa.)
Teacher’s Assessment
Based on our one-hour discussion, I can conclude that he learned a lot about the
topic. He can now clearly define and describe number system as well as the four common
types of it. At first, he had an unclear understanding about the conversion methods or
procedure. However, with the aid of the problem exercises and demonstration of the
methods and procedures, he has now clearer understanding about the number systems and
he can now employ the application of it. He also recognized the importance of the entire
session and how important it is in any field or areas on a regular basis.
