mitigate hazards and impact of fire.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of the Philippines is a government agency whose
role is to suppress and prevent the outbreak of destructive fires, enforce relevant laws,
and provide emergency medical and rescue services.

Numerous agencies render assistance and support to the BFP, which are as follows

The Philippine: National Police (PNP) – the agency provide support to the following
actions such as:
1. Actual firefighting operations and fire scene investigation;
2. Laboratory/physical examinations of the pieces of evidence gathered in the fire

Local Government Units (LGU) also render necessary assistance to the BFP, through
activities such as;
1. Deployment of Barangay Tanods to monitor fire hazards /threats and identify the
fire-prone areas within the community.
2. Organization and training of fire brigades in all communities to serve as first
responders;
3. Identification of fire evacuation areas to address the needs of the safety of the
citizens during emergencies.
4. Conduct fire drills in offices or houses in a thickly populated area

B. Electric Companies and Cooperatives, responsible for the immediate cut-off of

C. Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – responsible for disaster
preparedness, the agency increases the level of awareness of the community to threats
and impact of fire, equips the community with necessary skills to cope with the negative
impact, and develop and implement fire policies and plans.

D. Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) – responsible for disaster response, the


agency provides life preservation and meets the basic subsistence needs of the
affected population during or immediately after a fire.

are responsible for the enforcement of fire safety regulations for educational and other
applicable facilities

information in the field of hazardous materials and hazardous waste management as
well as collaboration on forest fire and life safety programs;
