CHAPTER 1: SYSTEM ANALYSIS
2.1 Problem definition
Movers Company is a company that deals with a large variety of goods with a wide
transport system. Currently the company uses a manual system (e.g., manual files
and recording using pen and paper) in running its operations, therefore the manual
system leads to slow operations of the company since there is a high demand of
goods and increased customers which make an overload to the manual system
leading to disappointments to other customers.
2.2 GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE EXISTING MANUAL
SYSTEM
 By making a clear investigation, the problem discovered with current
manual system were:
i. Few numbers of refrigerated trucks leading to few
transports of perishable goods at a time leading to
customer delay
ii. Storage of data and information through the files has
led loss of data and wastage of time in looking for the
information.
iii. The capturing of data is done using pen and paper and
arithmetic functions are done using a calculator leading
to slow processing of information and data capture
therefor wasting a lot of time.
iv. Errors in preparing important reports such as sales
report, company expense, and overall company profit
and etc. since it uses manual record skills.

 These problems have greatly affected the business. Due to the concern of
managing skills there was appointing of a new managing director (MD) and
a system analyst (SA) who would help to manage the company accordingly.
2.3 Overview of the proposed system
The proposed system will help to boost the company with the following;

money collected per day.
 The new system will help in data capturing by using e.g., camera
and video capturing.
 The new system will help in notifying of items coming in and out
of the company.
 Ordering of goods will enhanced since there will be
communication devices e.g., email and messaging, thus making
the company respond fast to customers.
 The new system will help in keeping the information safe and
orderly thus reducing losing of data.
 The new system will help in monitoring activities taking place in
the company.
2.4 Scope of the system
The new system will intend to perform the following for the company;
 The new system intends to help in calculating the total amount of
money collected per day.
 The new system intends to help in data capturing by use of e.g.,
camera
 The new system intends to notify the company in movement of
goods in and out of the company.
 The new system intends to help the company in well keeping of
data thus avoiding losing of data.
