Genotype and Phenotype Activity
The following list details specific characteristics of a human and the imaginary genes that
represent them. Use the information below to determine the phenotype (physical
characteristics) of our imaginary person.
Directions:
Look at the gene (letter) on the card given to you by the teacher.
Find the trait that the gene codes for by using the information on the other side of
this sheet.
When you are instructed, walk around the room and find the person that has the
other gene (letter) that codes for the same trait as your gene codes for. Use the
information sheet on the back to help you determine which letters you might be
looking for.
When you find your partner, the two of you sit down and determine the particular
trait that the imaginary person will have (brown eyes, green eyes, wavy hair,
dimples, etc.)
Go back to your seat and wait for the teacher’s instructions.
