By the end of the topic, the student must be able to:
 Discuss the traits that form the professional image of the phlebotomist.
 Explain the basic concepts of communication as they relate to the healthcare
setting;

1. The student must have a stable internet connection and the appropriate
gadget for the synchronous session.

Detailed process flow

 Introduction

Benvenuto! In clinical laboratory science, proper specimen collection


is essential because what will a medical technologist analyze in the
laboratory if they do not have the appropriate specimen? In this chapter, it is
our main goal to prime the students with some basic concepts that entails
phlebotomy.

 Session No. 1 (Synchronous) (60 mins)

o Attend the synchronous session for an in-depth lecture on basic concepts


that surrounds phlebotomy.
 Learning task

o Now that the student understand the importance of phlebotomy, one


might wonder, “what now? What tests or procedures are we going to do
with these specimens?”.
o Read on the various tests and procedures that are done in various clinical
specimens in the Learning guide for PMLS 2 by Ebuen et. Al.
Conversely, you may utilize internet sources to get acquainted with the
various procedures that are done in the different sections of the clinical
laboratory.
