4.1. CALIBRATION & CHECK
4.1.1. Equipment check
If the device is supplied with a fixed anode mono-tank this board is not present.
• Ensure that the green LEDs LD6 – LD11 – LD12 on the inverter board are ON.
• Check the following voltage values on the inverter board:
From To Value Tol
PIN8ac of P1 PIN7 of P1 + 5Vdc ± 100 mV
PIN9ac of P1 PIN7 of P1 + 12Vdc ± 500 mV
PIN10ac of P1 PIN7 of P1 - 12Vdc ± 500 mV
PIN11ac of P1 PIN7 of P1 +24Vdc ± 500 mV
These values are the same for each board of the rack.
• Place the DVM between TP1 and GND of the CPU board and adjust PT1 until reaching 850mV.
From To Value Tol
GND TP1 + 850 mV dc ± 50 mV
• Turn OFF the device.
• Plug the J18 connector on the Motherboard.
• Turn ON the device.
• Check the following voltage values on the inverter board:
From To Value Tol Monobloc
TP8 (GND) TP7 + 6.6 Vdc ± 50 mV Rotating
TP8 (GND) TP7 + 6.05 Vdc ± 50 mV Fixed
• Turn OFF the device.
• Connect an ammeter at the pin 1 (black wire) of P18 of the motherboard. Turn ON the device.
• Act on the PT1 trimmer of the CPU board (BMT) to display on the ammeter a current signal of about 224mA.
• Set the device in manual fluoroscopy and bring KV to 50. Push the fluoroscopy pedal and act on the mA until
reading the value 1.0.
• Check that the mA and kV fluoroscopy waveform value measured with the oscilloscope matches with the
ones displayed on the console.
• Repeat the procedure for multiple kV and mA values, in both fluoroscopy and radiography mode.
When radiography is selected check the ignition of the radiography filament watching
into the X-Ray source.
Be careful at this stage so that the X-Ray tube does not overheat resulting in damage.
• The table displays the maximum radiography loads that must not be exceeded during the checks.

RX tube alignment
After installing the monotank and before assembling the collimators group, you need to perform the mechanical
centering of the tube, to focus the main X-Ray beam with the Image Intensifier.
Follow these steps:
• Attach a metal washer (5 ÷ 6 mm diameter) with a piece of tape in the center of the grid positioned in front
of the image intensifier. This will give the reference, visible on the monitor, of the X-Ray axis of the device.
• Place the appropriate test equipment set in the leaded box of the X-Ray tube. The set consists of a tube
(ocular) with two leaded caps at both ends of it, with a small hole (∅ 1 mm) in the center. This instrument
will completely “darken” the X-Ray tube hole except for a small beam that passes through the two holes. This
beam is the X-Ray cone axis.
• Set the values of 40 kV and 0.1mA in manual fluoroscopy and, by pushing the X-Ray button, a small white dot
should appear on the monitor. This is the beam filtered from the ocular.
• Assembly the monotank support with the monotank at the flange placed on the C-ARM.
• Adjust the 6 fixing screws of the monotank to center it on the reference located on the Image Intensifier.
• After centered the monotank, tighten the fixing screws.
• If it is not enough, use the dowels placed on the tie plate fixed to the C-ARM.
Mechanical alignment
Proceed with the assembly and centering in the following way:
Camera Focus
• Equipment needed:
-RX dummy for resolution measurements.
-4mm thick aluminum plate.
• Pull apart the camera coverage (ONLY FOR BCA Plus 9”): remove the front semi-donut using an allen wrench.
• Place the RX dummy at the center of the image intensifier input (with the lines at 45° compared to the
monitor scanning) and fix it using tape. Place a 4mm thick aluminum plate in front of the RX exit tube.
• Unlock the 2 focus regulation fixing screws on the camera.
5. CHAPTER
5.1. MANUTENTION
5.1.1. Ordinary maintenance
The BCA Plus equipment has been designed to work for long time with only a minimum maintenance needed. See the
suggested checks in the user manual.
The periodic maintenance consists in the annual check and calibration of the main functional blocks of the device.
6. CHAPTER
6.1. DIGITAL MEMORY
6.1.1. Device Description
The digital imaging system is consisted of:
• A double monitor PC running Windows Xp or Win 7 and a dedicated software.
• An interface board (see documentation attached).
Interface Board
The blocks diagram of the interface board is attached below:
Interface Functions
• Conversion between RS232↔RS485 for the Digital Memory and C-ARM communication.
• Infrared communication (optional)
• ‘X-Ray in progress’ lamp.
Power Supply
There are 2 different power supply: one comes directly from the PC (12Vdc) and the other comes from the C-ARM
chassis (24Vdc).
