How To Make Tilted OWC
How To Make Tilted OWC
How To Make Tilted OWC
It is very rare that we have Tilted OWC but if we have this kind of condition we could utilize this
workflow but we have to know how the coordinates of OWC is varying within the reservoir in the X, Y
and Z direction.
2. Go to the Input pane and do RMB in the Input pane and select Import on tree.
3. In the window that appears select General Lines/Point (ASCII) (*.*) as files of type and browse to
select the file Tilted which we have made previouly.
4. In the window that appears known as Import Lines/points select OK for all but make sure the
option Read as points is selected, X, Y and Z have been assigned respected columns and appropriate
Number of header lines are given.
5. In the next window that appears select OK for all but make sure in templates Elevation Depth is
selected and there is no need of unit conversion.
6. Go to option under the Utilities folder and double click. In the windows that
appears drop the tilted.txt file in the Main Input tab from the Input pane and from Suggest setting
from input option select Well tops/points (low density).
7. In the Geometry tab press the tab Get Limits from selected and Apply the process.
8. This process will result in a Surface for the tilted OWC and would appear in the Result Surface tab.
9. The resulting surface will be placed in the Input pane.
11. Now we will utilize this surface for making a sloping OWC contact. Go to process
under Corner point gridding folder. Open the process and remove GOC since we will initialize the
model having two phases that are oil and water. Select all zones and drop the previously made
surface known as tilted and apply the process.
12. Check the icon known as Contact set in the Model Pane as shown below and visualize tilted OWC in
the 3D window.
Note:
If the contact set is defined by dropping in one or more surfaces, i.e. there are slopping contacts,
then this parameter specifies the target number of initial conditions (equilibration regions), each
with constant depth, that will represent the spatial variation in those contact surfaces.
4. Go to Define Simulation Case and drop the required Inputs plus FIPNUM property from the Model
pane.
5. In the Functions tab select black oil fluid model and check Region Index property and select Contact
set (5 Regions) property and drop down the contact set for each corresponding region from the
Input pane. Select the corresponding Input for Drainage Relative Permeabilities and Rock
compaction and Run the model to initialize using Equilibration technique.
6. Select the case from the Cases pane and visualize the water saturation in 3D or 2D window by
selecting it from the Result Pane.
