SUBJECT: PHYSICS TERM-2 PROJECT

PROJECT-1
 Additional apparatus required:

Stopwatch, Heater

 Steps-

1)Measure the temperature of water using a thermometer.

2)Add the cold water to the beaker along with Identical ice cubes (fixed no. of ice cubes).

simultaneously start the stopwatch when you add the ice cubes.

3)When the ice cubes melt stop the stopwatch.

4)Repeat this experiment with different temperatures of water.

Constant variable-No. of ice cubes, Identical ice cubes, Volume of water, Room temperature

 Table:

Beaker no. Initial temperature(°C) Time taken(s)

 How to use reading to reach a conclusion:

Check which beakers took more time for the ice to melt and compare it to their initial

temperatures. Draw up the suitable conclusion based on it.

PROJECT-2
 Factor that can be measure:

Speed of the ball

 Additional apparatus:

Stopwatch, Measuring tape

 Steps:

1)Measure the length of the board using a measuring tape. In this case let’s assume that the

length of the board is 1m (this is the distance travelled by the ball).

2)place one end of the board on top of the block creating a small slope.

3)take the ball and release it slowly from the top end of the board whilst simultaneously

starting the stopwatch.

4)when the ball reaches the end of the board stop the stopwatch.

5)repeat the experiment with different shapes of balls but with the same material and mass.

6)use the equation, speed=distance travelled/taken time, to calculate the speeds of the balls.

 Constant variable:

Length of board, Material of board, the angle of the slope, Pressure applied while

releasing the ball

 Table:

Ball no. Distance travelled(m) Time taken(s) Speed(m/s)

 How to use the reading to reach a conclusion:

Calculate the speed of each ball by using the given formula. compare the shapes of the balls to

their speeds and make a suitable conclusion based on it.
