A. Answer the following questions.

1. Who makes art? Do you think artists have innate ability or acquired skill (or both)? Explain also your
answer.

Any human being is capable of making art, but in general people who make art are artists. Many people
see beautiful things as art, natural things like the sunrise or a flower, and sometimes we make them into
our own kind of art. Artists aren’t necessarily born as artists, some people are born artistic, some aren’t,
but both become greater artists by training. Art is not something you can perfect, it’s a constant learning
process. But generally, the artistically inclined learn faster and thus become better faster than those

who aren’t. Artistic skill is innate but is expressed in the form of artworks depending on encouragement
from parents, teachers, media, and friends.

Artists have an innate ability to create art, but it takes skill and practice to become a skilled artist. A
genius can be a great artist but there needs to be something to feed that potential for greatness. Skill is
not something that just happens. The raw talent and potential can be there, but if there is no practice, it
will only just be potential.

2. What is the difference between a museum and gallery?

Museums and art galleries use entirely different business models to fund their operating costs and make
money. The purpose of an art museum is to share a range of artworks with the broader public.
Museums focus on education and awareness, so they will often receive public funding to help them
make the arts more widely available to the general public.  While the primary purpose of an art gallery is
 to display artwork that is for sale. Of course, you can still visit many art galleries to enjoy art without
purchasing it. However, the artwork on display at a gallery is for sale, unlike artwork at a museum. The
money a gallery earns from selling art is used to run the gallery business. 

Usually, a museum is owned by a local government or organization and not a single individual, which is
why many museums are free or have a low entrance fee. Galleries are more often owned by individuals
and are private. Typically, the person who runs a gallery has to create and fund the gallery on their own,
while museums often change who’s in charge and are run by a board of directors.

B. Choose a local or foreign visual artist (painter, sculptor, architect, filmmaker, craftsman,
photographer, fashion/interior/costume designer, etc.) whom you know and inspire you with his
work/s. Fill in the needed information about him/her in the table below. Attach also his/her photo

Why did you choose this artist? How did he inspire you with
his work?
Because She shines a beacon of hope for us with her
triumphant spirit and passion to create art in spite of
tremendous challenges. She experienced a massive brain-stem
stroke, she was in rehabilitation for eight years. This
remarkable artist, who has turned a tragedy into triumph,
credits her art as being an integral part of her healing process.
