1.Describe challenges faced by early healthcare quality management practitioners?

Convincing staff on the existence of a problem, other employees and clinicians may argue
against the presence of an actual problem that requires to be addressed.
Early healthcare quality management practitioners may also experience the challenge of
convincing staff that the selected solution for a situation is the most effective. Different
individuals have differing opinions for good quality.
Excess projects and ambitions; the enthusiasm for improving quality has the potential to
overwhelm resources.

2. Compare and contrast the scientific principles and techniques developed by

quality improvement experts to revolutionize manufacturing?

The Institute of Healthcare Improvement Model; this technique focuses on developing

measures and setting aims that are used to determine whether a change resulted in
improvement.
Lean principle, also known as Toyota Production System, aims at reducing unnecessary
steps in the production process hence increasing value.
On the other hand, Digital Taylorism is based on standardizing techniques and tools for the
conduction of each task for maximum efficiency.
3. Explain how the healthcare industry borrowed from manufacturing to improve
healthcare quality?
Due to healthcare borrowing from manufacturing, significant healthcare industry challenges
continue to be eliminated, leading to cost savings and efficiency, among other benefits such
as proper patient care. Operations and competitiveness of hospitals, for instance, have
been improved using the Lean and Six Sigma principles of manufacturing that aim for
maximum efficiency. Patients in a hospital have often been compared to manufactured
parts in a hospital hence applying manufacturing theories to analyze patient's flow in a
hospital using computer simulations.

4. Identify healthcare research and training organizations that support the quality
practitioner?
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

American Hospital Association

Federal Office of Rural Health Policy
