Carom Board Game

A carom board can be a square smooth flat board which is made of wood and

available in several numbers of sizes ranging from 72cm to 74cm square. The board is

positioned 60-70cm above from

the ground for playing effectively

on it. There is a circular hole made

on the carom board that can be of

51m in diameter and there are

mainly four different holes made

on the carom board each corner.

There is a net placed on each hole for catching the pieces in the same way to the snooker

table. This game is usually played by the two or four players against each other or in the form

of a team diagonally.

The rules which are used in the carom board seem to be very similar to the pool,

billiards, and snooker which are played without the cue. The main objective behind the carom

board is the put all the pieces of the carom in the pocket holes before the opponent. For this

purpose, there are several types of skills, determination for wine, and some luck is needed to

win the game effectively. There are a total of 19 pieces that do not include the striker. All the

19 pieces are available in three different colors and each player is provided with one color

and another for the queen (Carrom, 2020).

The usual colors of the carom board are white or unstained and black are for the

players and red for the queen. All the pieces of the game are not more than 3.18cm diameter

and not less than 3.02cm. It is believed that

the game was originated from the Indian sub-

continent. This game was discovered before

the 19th century and the game was played in

several numbers of ways according to the

choice of the players. In addition, according

to another theory, the game was invented by the Indian Maharajas. However, the people of

India used to refer Bangaru Babu to be the father of the game (Carrom, 2020). But with the

passage of time, indefatigable crusaders are becoming to be the fathers of the game in the

whole world.

It is also observed carom

board gamers are also finding

Olympic recognition because it is

not considered to be a single game

but it is also a sport that is not only

according to the Olympic standards

but contributes to the generation of

the huge amount of excitement. This game is considered to be very popular in Asia because

millions and billions of people play this game on a regular basis in the whole Asian

Continent. This game has been being played from the two hundreds of years ago because it is

also being linked to the origins of Portugal and Burma. The main objective of the game is the

use of strikers by using a flick of the finger for driving the pieces of carom into any four

corner pockets of the board (Cric, 2019).

The user can play and win

the game by putting all the nine

carom pieces along with the queen

before getting it done by the

opponent. There are particular rules

and principles which are needed to

be followed by the players while

playing the game. Any player can win the game if he/she gets successful in placing all the

needed certain colors pieces into the pockets along with the queen. However, any player can

place any piece into the pockets. The red color pieces of the game are known as queen which

is considered to be the most valuable piece of the game needed to win.

When the board is set up for playing the

game, the queen is set up at the center of the game.

According to the rules of ICF, when the player gets

successful in placing the queen to the pocket then

it adds three points to the total score of the game.

However, the dimensions of the queen are also

needed to be the same as to the other pieces of the carom board. In addition, it is also

necessary to place and put some powder on the carom board for bringing smoothness and

making the pieces to be easily slipped on the board to make the game easy for playing.

The most commonly used Borax which is
