What is a chart?

A chart is a graphical representation for data visualization, in which "the data is represented

by symbols, such as bars in a bar chart, lines in a line chart, or slices in a pie chart". A chart can
represent tabular numeric data, functions or some kinds of quality structure and provides different info.
Charts are often used to ease understanding of large quantities of data and the relationships between
parts of the data. Charts can usually be read more quickly than the raw data. They are used in a wide variety of
fields, and can be created by hand (often on graph paper) or by computer using a charting application.
Gantt Chart
A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule. This chart lists the tasks to be
performed on the vertical axis, and time intervals on the horizontal axis. The width of the horizontal bars in the
graph shows the duration of each activity. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal
elements and summary elements of a project.

 This chart that I made is for everyday planning time of the students. This can help students to manage
their time and accomplish something in a day. So as we can see we have here the time and in this part
is days in a week. Then this cut colored papers shows what the student is going to do. Example, lagyan
natin ng isang task. Module kunware ay module on major 1. They are going to write it in here like this
then ilagay sa katapat na oras kung kelan gagawin like this, kung hindi man natapos do it again. Put it
whatever time you want as a reminder. Pag nakita mo yung chart mo asabihin mo na, ay time nap ala
para gawin yung module ganyan so in a day may matatapos ka.

Bar Chart
A bar chart or bar graph is a chart or graph that presents categorical data with rectangular bars
with heights or lengths proportional to the values that they represent. The bars can be plotted vertically or
horizontally. A vertical bar chart is sometimes called a column chart.
A bar chart is used when you want to show a distribution of data points or perform a comparison of
metric values across different subgroups of your data. From a bar chart, we can see which groups are highest
or most common, and how other groups compare against the others.

 The picture in my PowerPoint is the example of a bar chart. Their names are legend with colors. Kent
for blue, Lincoln for yellow, Mersey for violet and York for green. This shows the comparison of the
sales they made in every quarter of the month. By this chart, we can see who make high or low sales
and the employees changes of sales.
Line Chart
A line chart is a graphical representation of an asset's historical price action that connects a series of
data points with a continuous line. This is the most basic type of chart used in finance, and it typically only
depicts a security's closing prices over time. Line charts can be used for any timeframe, but they most often
make use of day-to-day price changes.
A line chart is a type of chart used to show information that changes over time. Line charts are created
by plotting a series of several points and connecting them with a straight line. Line charts are used to track
changes over short and long periods of time.

 The line chart example is the representation of the wildlife population every year. This shows the
increase or decrease of the animals mentioned.
Area Chart
An area chart combines the line chart and bar chart to show how one or more groups’ numeric values
change over the progression of a second variable, typically that of time. An area chart is distinguished from a
line chart by the addition of shading between lines and a baseline, like in a bar chart.
Area charts are used to represent cumulated totals using numbers or percentages over time. Use the
area chart for showing trends over time among related attributes. The area chart is like the plot chart except
that the area below the plotted line is filled in with color to indicate volume.
When multiple attributes are included, the first attribute is plotted as a line with color fill followed by the
second attribute, and so on.

 This area chart shows the number of active users for a fictional web-based company, computed by
month. Values for each month can be measured not just from the vertical position of the top of the
shape, but also the colored height between the baseline and top. In this chart, we can see that the
number of active users has about doubled from November 2019 to February 2020, and that the rate of
user gains has increased over time.

Funnel Chart
A funnel chart is a specialized chart type that demonstrates the flow of users through a business or
sales process. The chart takes its name from its shape, which starts from a broad head and ends in a narrow
neck. The number of users at each stage of the process are indicated from the funnel’s width as it narrows.

 The example funnel chart on the side are the responses to a fictional email campaign regarding a
special product offer. Each of the five stages of the pipeline are associated with a bar whose length
corresponds with the number of users that completed each stage. In addition, listed next to each bar is
the proportion of users remaining with respect to the first stage.

 From this chart, we can see that the largest absolute gap was between viewing the email and clicking
on the promotion link. There was another fair relative drop off between viewing the linked page, and
adding the product to the cart. On the other hand, once the product was in cart, most users then
followed through to a purchase.

Flow Chart

A flowchart is a picture of the separate steps of a process in sequential order. It is a generic tool that
can be adapted for a wide variety of purposes, and can be used to describe various processes, such as a
manufacturing process, an administrative or service process, or a project plan.
A flowchart is a type of diagram that represents a workflow or process. A flowchart can also be defined
as a diagrammatic representation of an algorithm, a step-by-step approach to solving a task. The flowchart
shows the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by connecting the boxes with arrows.

 This flowchart shows a step by step procedure. The problem is the lamp is not working. Then the arrow
down shows some process or situations that can lead to resolve the problem. The lamp is plugged in, if
no then plug the lamp. If yes, another situation is presented. This process is repeated until the problem
is solved.

Table Chart
- A table chart is a means of arranging data in rows and columns. The use of tables is pervasive throughout all
communication, research and data analysis. Tables appear in print media, handwritten notes, computer
software, architectural ornamentation, traffic signs and many other places. The precise conventions and
terminology for describing tables varies depending on the context.

 The example for Table chart is this multiplication table. It is used in the classroom where students can
read and it can help them to memorize the multiplication table easily.
Picture Chart
- A pictorial chart (also called a pictogram, a pictograph, or a picture chart) is a visual representation of data
that uses pictograms – icons or pictures in relative sizes – to highlight data patterns and trends. Pictorial charts
are common in business communication or news articles to visually compare data.

 Teachers often use this kind of chart. This can get the attention of the students and it can be also easy
to them to identify the datas. Example is this picture where in a classroom the teacher ask her students
their favorite fruit then each answer equals one smiley face that will be put at the side of their chosen
fruit and so on and so ford.
Time Chart
- a chart showing the standard times in various parts of the world with reference to a specified time at a
specified place. A time chart (also called a line graph) is a statistical display used to examine trends in data
over time (also known as time series data).

 The example presented is from a person who manage his time. I am not sure if it is daily, weekly or
monthly.
Pie Chart
- A pie chart (or a circle chart) is a circular statistical graphic, which is divided into slices to illustrate
numerical proportion. In a pie chart, the arc length of each slice (and consequently its central angle and area),
is proportional to the quantity it represents. While it is named for its resemblance to a pie which has been
sliced, there are variations on the way it can be presented.
Pie charts can be used to show percentages of a whole, and represents percentages at a set point in time.
Unlike bar graphs and line graphs, pie charts do not show changes over time.

 The example shows the usage of water in a house.
