Activity 1: Reflect on and address the following:

1. Identify the name of the school officials in your district or division.

The School Officials in the district of Carmen

2. Set an interview schedule with one of these officials to know more about
The following;

A. What are the priority programs and projects that DepEd implemented
in this school year?

1. READING PROGRAM ON THE NON-READERS

- we have PROJECT BRAIN which caters the non-readers grade 7
students
- then we have PROJECT SNARE which caters non-numeric learners
2. SPA PROGRAM - the special programs in sports
3. PROGRAMS ON FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
- we have SLAC SESSIONS - the School Learning Action Cell
- and then we have INSET - In Service Training for Teachers
4. PROJECT ON THE ENHANCEMENT OF INTERNET
CONNECTIVITY IN THE SCHOOL
5. PROGRAMS ON STUDENTS ENGAGEMENT such as tree planting,
mental health awareness programs, physical fitness program, and
remedial classes

B. What are the challenges, issues and problems they met in their
division or district in relation to curriculum implementation?

 It is difficult to communicate students who live in a far flung areas.

 The participation rate of the students in modular learning is very low
sometimes since they are not getting their modules due to geographical
area, and fare price back and forth which is more higher than before
pandemic.
 In answering the modules, some students just copy the answer in the
answer keys, others not doing their work.
 With respect to Modular production, specially this 3 rd and the 4th quarter,
since DepEd central office just provide 1:6 modules per students, so it’s a
struggle for us to provide learning materials.
 With regards to the students, they are not fully vaccinated though we
could not forced them to do so, so it become an issue since they cannot
participate in terms of distribution and output.
 Lastly, the lack of budget in the implementation of limited face to face.

C. What are the strategies they are implementing to address these

issues, challenges and problems?
 The strategies that we are implementing to address these issues
challenges and problems, we have implemented Purok System
Approach, so last school year, 2021, teachers go to the Barangays’ and
Puroks’ to bring and distribute to them the modules. But it stopped
because of the CoViD. So, we come up to Scheduling of Module
Distribution where students of every grade level are scheduled to get their
modules in the school.

 We have also created our own learning activity sheets to address the
limited number of modules and to contextualized the modules.
 And then we conduct Online Distance Learning to address the shortage of
modules. We facilitate learning through synchronous and asynchronous
approach.
 We also Conduct Quizzes and Activities through online.
 We also conduct different kinds of extra curricular activities for the
students such to have academic breaks.
 We also have been supported by the parents, LGU’s and other
stakeholders through financial and manpower aids to address the scarcity
of budget.

Activity 2: Reflect on and address the following:

1. Describe the process of curriculum development practiced by your college
or university.

Curriculum not only helps instructors and students collaborate, but it

also helps standardized learning objectives throughout the school and helps
students go from grade to grade. According to Ma’am Jean Millare and Ma’am
Faith Bunid, in the college of education, the process of curriculum
development starts from finding the issues and trends that needs to be
addressed. After some thorough investigations, a proposal will then be made
and pilot tested through feasibility study to determine if there is a need for the
implementation of this new proposed curriculum is possible and practical. As
part of the process of implementation, parents, DepEd and other stakeholders
are also taken into account. Furthermore, outlining the proposal for a specific
course curriculum, the college or the university must follow the curriculum
guide from CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) and to the institutionalized
courses of the university. This curriculum must reflects its mission, vision and
goals. Proposed curriculum must be presented to the department and to the
college for consultation, then it will be reviewed by the university’s academic
council and must be approved by the president as well as the regional
director of CHED. This procedure must be followed in accordance with the
curriculum for the Bachelor of Secondary Education.

2. Develop a flowchart describing how a curriculum proposal reaches

the level of approval in your college or university.

Implementation

Approved by the Regional Director of CHED

Proposed Curriculum Approved by the University President

Review with Academic Council

Presentation of Proposal to the program department

Consultation With Stakeholders

Feasibility study

Demands and needs identification

3. Identify the people involved and their level of involvement.

 Stakeholders - helps identify the issues and needs to be addressed and

member for consultation
 College Staffs- the coordinator, chairperson and college dean - prepare
and organized presentation.
 Academic Council - review the proposal
 University President - approved the curriculum proposal
 CHED Regional Director - Approved the curriculum proposal to be
implemented

4. Discuss how your college/university addresses several issues and

challenges and integrate them in the curriculum.

The impact of the earthquake and the outbreak of CoViD 19 pandemic

and other unavoidable happenings in our environment were some of the
factors that shifted our traditional way of learning. Thus, the curriculum also
shifted from face-to-face to modular and online distance learning format to
continuously provide the quality education for all students to keep them safe
from the harm of unavoidable circumstances like these COVID 19 pandemic.
The university implemented curriculum which help aid the need in the
teaching- learning process. The university included the integration on the use
of technology in the delivery of learning modalities.

Activity 3: Reflect on and address the following:

1. Collect example of syllabus in your school.
2. Examine how the syllabus considers the various factors affecting the
identified curriculum implementation.
3. Make a reflection on the implementation of the curriculum.

One example I have was the syllabus of the Course Syllabus for The
Teacher and the Community, School Culture and Organizational Leadership
( ProfEd 312). This syllabus was newly established in accordance with health
protocols and Quality Management and Outcome-Based Teaching and
Learning format. Since we are now in a new type of learning, this syllabus
takes into account the learning environment, the needs of the students, as
well as the society’s needs and demands through modular and online classes.
Because of the changes that happened in our society today, the system of our
education also changes to address the challenges and problems encountered
along the way. The impact of the earthquake and the outbreak of CoViD 19
pandemic and other unavoidable happenings in our environment were some
of the factors that shifted our traditional way of learning. Thus, this syllabus
was merely based on students’ and society’s current issues and trends and
requirements. The curriculum also shifted from face-to-face to modular and
online distance learning format to continuously provide the quality education
for all students.

In my own point of view, I can see that the implementation of the

curriculum always focused on the learners, environment and society’s
demands. As the needs and demands of learners, environment and society
arises, the curriculum also changes. These factors have great influence in the
implementation of curriculum. It includes modification of a specific curriculum
to meet the needs of students and society. Curriculum is subject to change at
any time, that is why evaluation is important in all aspects affecting society
and students while choosing and implementing a curriculum. Curriculum will
have an effective impact on each student’s learning and progress as well as
the society’s development.
