INT. WHITE HOUSE - EVENING

A quaint victorian in Nowheresville. Peaceful enough,

except for the very aptly positioned

MARGARET White, 50s, the fanatic, strict Christian mother

currently beating the shit out of

CARRIE White, 16. Unlike her mother, she’s not fanatic.

In fact, she’s not much of anything, because her abusive
“evangelical” mother won’t let her be.

CARRIE
Momma, stop! Please!

MARGARET
Not for you, you sinful
heathen.
(saddening)
How could you do that,
Carietta!?

Carrie, with a trembling voice, speaks up.

CARRIE
(tearing up)
What did I do?!

A beat. Oh god.

MARGARET
You not only sin by doing, but
by LYING TOO?!?

INT. THE PRAYER ROOM

Contrary to the name, this claustrophobic abomination is

nothing coming from the good glory of God. In fact, this
place resembles a TORTURE ROOM more than a “prayer room”.

Carrie POUNDS on the door so hard, she could KNOCK IT

DOWN.

CARRIE
(screeching)
Momma! MOMMA!

MARGARET
Not until you’ve learned your
lesson!

Carrie digs her sinking nails into the door, tearing up.
She turns to face…

A ELDRITCH HORROR on a table. No, really. It might be

Jesus on a cross, but it’s so hideous I don’t think it
matters. Shakily, she grabs a worn-out bible, turns it to
Matthew.

CARRIE
(cracking)
Matthew 5:27 to 28. It reads.
Ye have heard that it was said
by them of old time, thou shalt
not commit adultery. But I say
unto you, That whosoever
looketh on a woman to lust
after her hath committed
adultery with her already in
his heart.

She closes the book before slowly re-opening it.

SPEEDING UP

as she turns the pages. We pan out as she does,

eventually panning out so far we reach into

BLACK

THE BLACK opens, revealing Carrie’s face covering the

camera. This is her locker.

INT. SCHOOL - DAY

Students stumble their way through the hallway. Carrie is

pushed and shoved around as she awkwardly holds her
books.

INT. SCHOOL - CLASSROOM - DAY

Carrie stands, petrified, in front of the class. CHRIS

Hargensen, 17, candidate for biggest bitch in the world,
is having none of this.

CHRIS
Are you gonna speak or what?

She jumps as the class laugh.

CARRIE
I- I’m gonna…

VOICE (V.O)
Class!

Everyone turns around to find Mrs DANVARS, 40s, the type

of teacher you don’t fuck with.

DANVARS
Have you lost it, Hargensen?!
You do not get to interrupt
class.
(to Carrie, softly)
You can go now, alright. Don’t
worry about what they think.

Chris sighs loudly.

CHRIS
Are you kidding?

DANVARS
(harshly)

She walks out. Enraged, but no one needs to know. She’s

better than that. Carrie stoops down to Danvars’ level.

CARRIE

DANVARS
Yeah.
(eyeing her fear)

CARRIE

(clearing her throat)
My name is, uh…
(a beat)
Carrie. Uh… any questions?

A tiny blonde raises her hand. This is SUE SNELL, 15. A

popular rich asshole with a surprising morality to her.

SUE

The class bursts into laughter.

SUE (PRE-LAP)

EXT. STREETWAY - DAY

Carrie speeds down the sidewalk, Sue behind.

SUE

CARRIE
(with venom; turning
around)

They stop, along with some students passing by.

SUE
Look, I’m sorry. I wasn’t
trying to mock you.

CARRIE

relaying that.

SUE
(tearing up)

SUE

Carrie and Sue stand there alone. Pondering. Carrie bear

hugs her, crying.
