STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

DEFINITION

Staff development programme refers to all training and education provided by an


employee to improve the occupational and personal knowledge, skills and attitude of vested
employees.

We are students of Msc nursing II year 22 nos have conducted staff development
programme on 09.12.20 on Mon day on the topic of

“SERRIED APPROACH ON LIVER TRANSPLANTATION”

Venue : college of nursing auditorium, Madurai medical college , Madurai

AIM OF THE STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Our staff development programme aim is to provide clear picture of “SERRIED


APPROACH ON LIVER TRANSPLANTATION” and to promote the outcome of excellence in
nursing education and practice .

OBJECTIVES

 To develop comprehensive view on liver transplantation


 To promote knowledge regarding serried approach on liver transplantation
 To explore positive attitude towards nursing management of patient with liver
transplantation.

SELECTION OF RESOURCE PERSON

 They should provide theoretical and practical aspects of the theme.


 Resource person must have much more practical and theoretical exposure in their
work field
 Resource person should be able to supervise and also control the trainees.

We have selected 6 resource persons from our college. The list of resource person is
enclosed .

SELECTION OF THE PARTICIPANTS

 Participants should be homogeneous.


 Select the participants who will benefit by the theme of staff development
programme and objectives.
 Voluntary participation and willingness to innovate.

We have selected the staff nurses and nursing superindentent working in clinical area.

SELECTION OF THE DATES FOR THE STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Date of staff development programme should not coincide with public or religious holidays,
sports events. The day of workshop is Monday 09.12.2020.

SELECTION OF THE PLACE FOR STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

 Select the place where the participants can stay and attend total activities
of staff development programme on a full time basis.
 The place should be pleasurable one.
 Booking a meeting room and hotel accommodation.

Staff development programme was conducted in college of nursing auditorium which is


well ventilated, more than 300 persons can occupy the area.
SELECTION OF LANGUAGE:

In staff development programme national language must be the working language. It must
be known by all participants. Mode of communication with understandable knowledge that is
English.

INAUGURATION:

It is starting function of the workshop. In this all committee members, participants,


resource persons will be gathered along with the chief guest. The function started with tamil
thaai vazhthu and Chief guest will started the function with lighting the lamp and gives his guest
speech regarding the theme. Our dean Dr. Hemanth kumar, M.S., maduai medical college ,
Madurai. After to him organizer delivers his speech.

PRETEST:

Pretest will be given to the participants, which will be based in the theme of the
workshop .It contains 25 questions.
PRELIMINARY INTRODUCTORY SESSION:

Organizer will give brief introduction about the staff development programme which are
going to conduct.

Introductory sessions was presided by our organizing chair person

ASSIGNMENT SESSIONS AND PRACTICAL EXERCISE

Different sessions were conducted by all the resource persons in a very nice manner.

The delegates were asked questions and that was an interactive session.

GUIDANCE AND SUPERVISION

We were guided by Mrs. Sobana Joy John, M.SC(N), M.Sc(Psy)., Reader, CON, MMC
and Mrs.G.selvarani M.sc nursing , Faculty of nursing, CON, MMC, Madurai.

CLARIFYING SESSION

The doubts of the participants were clarified by the resource persons after their session.

GROUP DISCUSSION

Group discussion was done and interactive sessions were conducted.

EVALUATION:

Post test- it will be given to the participants based on the content which was given by
the experts during the presentation phase.

OPEN SUGGESTIONS:

The participants are given opportunity to comment and give suggestions for further
improvement.
VALIDATION:

It is the end phase of the workshop. In this organizer will conclude the workshop after
providing certificates to the experts and participants and also distribute the prizes to those
perform well in their group activities. Chief organizer will give vote of thanks and programme
will end with National anthem.

CONCLUSION:

It means after the actual programme, organizers as well as participants have to their part of
their work. The results of pretest and post test were compared and displayed by bar chart .The
level of knowledge in the post test is increased when compared with pretest. The suggestions and
feedback from the participants were collected . Finally the session ended with national anthem .
