Cook Islands Mini Dance Competition


Friday 04 March. 5-9pm at Cook Islands Community Hall 101A Clayton Road. Tarere Ura Kuki Airani.
There are three categories: 1. Girls action song and slow drum dance; boys pee and slow drum dance.
2. Fast drum dance. 3. World Rugby Cup Theme catwalk. Cost: $5 (adults) and gold coin donation
(children). This is a fundraiser for the umu-pit project and a celebration of International Children’s

Children’s and Family Day


Sunday 06 March at The Redwoods. 10am-3pm. A free event celebrating National Children's Day -
theme for 2011 is love and affection. We are participating by running two activities- face painting

A Carnival of Tapas
Sun-Tues 6-8 March. 5pm till close. In celebration of Carnaval, Sabroso will be offering a unique
menu of tapas from all over South America for three days leading up to Fat Tuesday. All proceeds
after food and beverage cost will be donated to Christchurch earthquake victims via Red Cross.

U&I Football Cup 2011


Saturday 12 March at Neil Hunt Park, 10am-4pm organised by Rotorua Multicultural Council Inc.
(a.k.a. Multicultural Rotorua) to celebrate Race Relations Day and promote the values of cultural
diversity. This is a seven-a-side socio-cultural tournament. The theme for Race Relations Day 2011 is
'People in Harmony'. Hosted by Rotorua United Football Club and endorsed by Waikato Bay of
Plenty Football Federation. This event is our contribution to the NZ Diversity Action Programme in
2011. The winning team will qualify for the NZ Community Cup in November. For more info email

Green Walk
St. Patrick’s Day Walk. Thursday 17 March. 3pm-4:30pm. starting at Rotorua Arts Village 1240
Hinemaru St. Dress up in green costumes or simply wear anything green. You may have your face
painted with the colors of the Irish flag or choose to wave an Irish flag. We will walk to Hinemoa and
Arawa Streets (the start of the Cultural Heritage Trail), Maori Carvings, Prince's Gate Arches,
Ornamental Ponds and Gardens, Band Rotunda, Te Runanga Tea House, Malfroy Geyser, Site of the
Sanatorium, Blue Baths, Polynesian Spa and the Rotorua Museum. There will be an opportunity for
group photos. Then we will head back to the Arts Village for light tea and green cupcakes. Cost: gold

3-Day Walking Festival


Fri-Sun 18-20 March. The following walks will start at the Netherland Society Clubroom, Neil Hunt
Park Tarawera Road: Redwood Nocturnal Walk on Friday, Whakarewarewa Forest Walks 10-40km on
Saturday, Rotorua City Walks 10-30km on Sunday and Guided Forest Walk 22 km on Sunday

highlight of the Rotorua Walking Festival (11-20 March).
