1 Have warning notices stating “CAUTION. SAFE FOR

USE & UNSAFE FOR USE” been fixed in prominent
positions while erection is in progress?

2 Are the surrounding area and the vicinity of the bases

for the scaffold water-logged?

3 Are the scaffold components and fittings showing no

signs of deterioration by rusting?

4 Are the sole plates & the base plates still in good
condition?
5 Are the standards or frames plumbs, as observed from
base level?

6 Are the ledgers and transoms horizontal, as above?

7 Are the bracing completed?

8 Are the tie-ins to the structure correctly installed and in

sufficient number & correct position to ensure stability
of the scaffold?
9 Are all fittings tied and undamaged?

10 Are there any excavations or new constructions, which
may affect the stability of the scaffold?
11 Are precautions being taken to prevent accidental
damage to the scaffold by traffic or other causes?

12 Is the ladder access easy to climb?

13 Are ladders giving access to working platforms

securely fixed top and bottom, complete and
undamaged in everyway?

14 Are all working platforms completely decked out and

toe-board fitted?

15 Are guardrails fitted at correct height and location?

The height of guardrail should be 1.10 m with
intermediate rail at 690 mm from the platform.

16 Are working platform, access ways and landing cleared

off any obstructions, loose objects and tripping
hazards?

17 Do the working platforms feel “SOLID” to walk-on?

18 Are materials, stored on the platform, dispersed so as

not to cause a concentration of load in excess of that
permitted?

19 Are you satisfied that the scaffold is safe for its

intended purpose?

20 Have you completed & fully satisfied with this

checklist?
