1. Summarize the two major aspects of process management.
 The two major aspects of process management are managing process
to meet demand and dealing with process variability. Managing
process to meet demand is the supply chain management process that
balances the customers requirements with the capabilities of the supply
chain. With this process, supply management can match supply with
demand proactively, while dealing with process variability occurs during
the manufacturing process of the company’s products or goods.

2. Briefly describe the historical evolution of operations management.


 Operations management first began with Industrial Evolution in 1770’s,
where they substituted machine power for human power. Second, the
Scientific Management in 1911, where they studied the best method for
doing each job like observation, measurement, analysis, and
improvement of work methods and economic incentives. Third, the
Human Relations Movement in 1920-60’s, where several pioneers
contributed techniques, ideas, and principles of scientific management.
Fourth, the Decision Models in 1960-70’s, where several quantitative
technique are developed. Fifth, the Influence of Japanese
Manufacturers, where management practices increased productivity
and quality for the foreseeable future. Last, the operations today are
technological based together with scientific discoveries to the
development and improvement of goods and services.

3. Describe the operations function and the nature of the operations manager’s
job.
 Operations function is used to describe how the core operations of the
organization is designed and function. Example of it, is on how raw
materials transformed into a final product.
 Operations manager are responsible for managing activities that are
part of the production of goods and services. They focuses on
improving the process of organizations and helps to maintain
productivity and quality of goods and services.
