Salt spray testis a reference standard, however, requirements may be determined after the agreement between the parties concerned, when necessary. (1) The amount of red rust that can be recognized by the naked eye from a distance of distinct vision shall not exceed 6 spots for every 30 cm* (6 6 om). (2) Red rust larger than 2.0 mm in diameter shal not be allowed Table 5 Salt spray time Unit: hour ‘Type ‘Sat spray time ‘SPaT0 120 'SP820 180 ‘S830 240 ‘Remark Limit samples fo determine aosoplabilly of corrosion afar salt spray teat shall be ‘established by agreement between the parties concerned in consideration of ciepersion of salt spray equipments 5. CLASSIFICATION BY USE AND SURFACE/INTERNAL DEFECTS 5.1 Classification by use Steel sheets shall be used for automobile parts where good surface appearance is not necessary. 5.2 Surface defect Sheet shall be free from defects that adversely affect the product performance. (Use a boundary sample.) However, some partial defects are allowed in coils. The boundary sample shall be agreed upon between the parties concerned, Moreover, when stripping of metal coating occurs due to poor adhesion plating and product performance is adversely affected, action shall be taken by the agreement between the parties concerned, 5.3 Intemal defect, The steel sheet shall not contain harmful defects such as double sheets, lamination, etc. M2029 [2006-1] 6. CLASSIFICATION BY SURFACE TREATMENT (CHEMICAL TREATMENT SPECIFICATION) Hexavalent chromium tree treatment shall be performed for surface treatment. Refer to Table 5 for the type and symbol of ste! sheet. Table 6 Chemical treatment classification Type of chemical veatment | Symbol ‘Summary Not applied : Hexavalent chromium free NC | After the salt spray test for 72 h, white corrosion area treatment shall be 5% MAX. Remarks: 7, Limiting samples to determine the acceptabilly of corrosion after salt spray test shall be determined by agreement between the parties concerned in consideration of dispersion of salt spray equipment, 2. Frequency of conducting the test shall be established by agreement between the parties concerned. 7.
