Introduction. This work package provides instructions for the removal and installation of the tubular fuel manifold used on LM25000+ DLE engines. Instructions for the removal and installation of associated fuel system components is covered as well. 2. Reference Material. Fuel Hose Assembly Replacement. a. Comply with all instructions contained in WP 002 00. b. Remove fuel hose assembly as follows: CAUTION Cover open fuel manifold and premixer ports immediately after removal of each fuel hose assembly to prevent engine contamination. @ Disconnect fuel hose assembly from fuel manifolds (figure 1) as follows: NOTE Even number premixers are connected to enhanced lean blow out (ELBO) manifold, odd number premixers are connected to C-manifold. (2) @) @ 6) (a) If connected, loosen B-nut that secures fuel hose onto ELBO manifold. Disconnect fuel hose from fuel manifold. (b) If connected, loosen B-nut that secures fuel hose onto C-manifold. Disconnect fuel hose from fuel manifold. (©) Loosen B-nut that secures fuel hose onto A-manifold. Disconnect fuel hose. Disconnect fuel hose from fuel manifold. (@) Loosen B-nut that secures fuel hose onto B-manifold. Disconnect fuel hose from manifold, Remove bolts that secure fuel hose assembly plate to premixer. Remove fuel hoses assembly. Remove and discard seal. Cover open premixer port with tape. Repeat steps (1) through (4) to remove as many fuel hose assemblies as required to perform maintenance. c. Install fuel hose assemblies onto odd number premixer pads as follows: wo (2) (3) Remove tape from premixer port. Installl seal between fuel hose assembly plate and premixer. Improper seating of fuel hose will result in fuel leakage during engine operation. © Do not exceed 15 Ib in. (1.6 N-m) of torque during seating of hose assembly plate onto premixer or distortion of premixer may occur. (4) Using crisscross pattern, run down four bolts and seat fuel hose assembly onto premixer. Use minimum torque. (5) Connect fuel hose to ELBO manifold as follows: (a) Lightly coat B-nut fitting on ELBO manifold with thread lubricant, WARNING Lubricating oil, MIL-L-23699 or MIL-L-7808, is toxic to skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. Skin and eye protection is required. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Use in a well-ventilated area. (b) Slide B-nut back on aft most fuel hose. Lubricate ferrule with lubricating oil, (©) Install B-nut hand-tight onto ELBO manifold, (6) Connect fuel hose to A-manifold as follows: (a) Lightly coat B-nut fitting on A-manifold with thread lubricant. WARNING Lubricating oil, MIL-L-23699 or MIL-L-7808, is toxic to skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. Skin and eye protection is required. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Use in a well-ventilated area. (b) Slide B-nut back on middle fuel hose. Lubricate ferrule with lubricating oil, (c) Install B-nut hand-tight onto A-manifold. (7) Connect fuel hose to B-manifold as follows: (a) Lightly coat B-nut fitting onto B-manifold with thread lubricant. Lubricate ferrule with lubricating oil, (©) Install B-nut hand-tight onto B-manifold. 4. Install fuel hose assemblies onto even number premixer pads as follows (1) Install hose assembly plate onto premixer per steps c.(1) through (4) (2) Connect fuel hose to C-manifold as follows: (a) Lightly coat B-nut fitting on C-manifold with thread lubricant. WARNING Lubricating oil, MIL-L-23699 or MIL-L-7808, is toxic to skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. Skin and eye protection is required. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Use in a well-ventilated area. (b) Slide B-nut back on aft most fuel hose. Lubricate ferrule with lubricating oil. (c) Install B-nut hand-tight onto C-manifold. (3) Install fuel hoses onto A- and B-manifold per steps c.(5) and (6). e. After all fuel hose assemblies that were removed have been reinstalled, perform following steps: (1) Final tighten bolts that secure fuel hose assembly plate to premixer as follows: (a) Using crisscross pattern, tighten four bolts to 100 Ib in. (11.3 N-m) of torque. (b) Using crisscross sequence, tighten four bolts to 20 Ib ft. (27.1 Nm) of torque. (©) Using a crisscross sequence, tighten bolts to 32-35 Ib ft. (43.4-47.4 N-m) of torque. 6 Change 1 GEK 105048 LM2500+ DLE Volume I GE Marine & Industrial Engines WP 101 00 (a) Final tighten bolts in a clockwise bolt-to-bolt sequence to ensure 32-35 Ib ft. (43.4-47.4 N-m) of torque has been applied to four bolts. (e) Safety-wire four bolts at premixer. CAUTION Ensure alignment stripe on flex fuel hose is not twisted, or premature hose failure may occur. (2) Final tighten B-nuts that secure fuel hoses to manifolds to 450-550 Ib in. (51.0-62.1 N'm) of torque. 7. Acoustic Baffles and Premixer Plugs Replacement. a, Comply with all instructions contained in WP 002 00, if not previously done. NOTE ‘There are 12 acoustic baffles (three different lengths) and 18 premixer plugs. b, Remove acoustic baffle and/or premixer plug as follows: NOTE There are 30 premixer ports located in compressor rear frame (CRF). (1) Starting at 12:00 o'clock position, indexing clockwise (aft looking forward), number acoustic baffles, premixer plugs, and premixer ports (figure 2). NOTE Various brackets shall require removal with premixer plugs. Ensure brackets are tagged for location and orientation prior to removal. (2) If required, remove bolts that secure bracket to premixer plug. Attach tag that notes location and orientation onto bracket. Remove brackets, CAUTION Cover open premixer port immediately after removal of each acoustic baffle or premixer plug to prevent engine contamination. (3) Remove bolts and spacers that secure acoustic baffle or premixer plug to premixer. Remove acoustic baffle or premixer plug. Remove and discard seal. Cover premixer port with tape. Apply thread lubricant to threads and face of bolts that secure acoustic baffles and premixer plugs to premixer. Remove tape from premixer port. Install seal onto premixer. Install correct acoustic baffle or premixer plug onto correct premixer (figure 2). Using four short bolts without spacers (at four corners), secure premixer plug or acoustic baffle to premixer port. Tighten bolts hand-tight. Using two long bolts with spacers (at sides), secure premixer plug or acoustic baffle to premixer port. ‘Tighten bolts hand-tight. Using crisscross pattern, incrementally tighten bolts to 200-225 Ib in, (22.6- 25.4 Nem) of torque and safety-wire. Reinstall any brackets that were removed. Safety-wire bolts and remove tags. Repeat steps (1) through (7) to reinstall all acoustic baffles and/or premixer plugs that were removed to perform maintenance. 8. Premixer Replacement. a. b. Comply with all instructions contained in WP 002 00, if not previously done. Remove premixer as follows: a (2) Start at 12:00 o'clock position. Moving clockwise (aft looking forward), use marker to number premixers on CRF from 1 to 30 (figure 2). Remove fuel hose assembly per paragraph 6. Premixer Removal/Installation Tool, 109427 (3) Remove acoustic baffle and/or premixer plug per paragraph 7. (4) Using four capscrews, install premixer removaV/installation tool, 109427, onto premixer (figure 3). CAUTION Cover open CRF port immediately after removal of each premixer to prevent engine contamination. (5) Remove remaining four bolts and spacers that secure premixer to CRF. (6) Remove premixer from CRF. (7) Inspect gasket, replace if required. (8) Using tape, cover CRF port. (9) Remove premixer removal/installation tool, 109427, from premixer. (10) Repeat steps (1) through (9) as required to perform required maintenance. GEK 105048 LIM2500+ DLE Volume It GE Marine & Industrial Engines ‘WP 101 00 c. Install premixer as follows: (1) Using four capscrews, install premixer removal/installation tool, 109427, onto premixer. (2) Apply thread lubricant to threads and face of bolts that secure premixer to CRF, (3) Remove tape from CRF port. (4) Install gasket onto premixer. CAUTION + Use care when installing premixers. Do not force premixers into position, or damage could result. + Install 3-cup premixers into even number CRF ports and 2-cup premixers into odd number CRF ports, or damage could result. (5) Install premixer into CRF port. (6) Using four bolts and spacers, attach premixer to CRF. (7) Using crisscross pattern, incrementally tighten bolts to 200-225 Ib in. (22.6-25.4 N-m) of torque and safety-wire. (8) Remove premixer removal/installation tool, 19427, from premixer. (9) Reinstall removed premixers per steps (1) through (7). (10) Install removed premixers plugs and/or acoustic baffles per paragraph 7. (11) Install removed fuel hose assemblies per paragraph 6. 9. Staging Valves Replacement. a. Comply with all instructions contained with WP 002 00, if not previously done, b. Remove staging valve from valve rack bracket as follows: WARNING Electrical power shall be off before connecting or disconnecting electrical connectors. Electricity causes shock, burns, and death. (1) Loosen and disconnect electrical harness connector from staging valve connector. "1 GEK 105048 Volume I LM2500+ DLE WP 101 00 GE Marine & Industrial Engines 12 (2) Remove four bolts and nuts that secure staging valve to fuel manifold adapter plate. (3) Remove and discard gasket. If required, remove staging valve from bracket per steps b.(1) through (3). Installl staging valve onto valve rack bracket (figure 1) as follows: (1) Remove tape from adapter plate on valve rack bracket. (2) Lightly coat bolt threads and contact faces with thread lubricant. (3) Install gasket onto staging valve. (4) Place staging valve onto fuel port adapter plate with electrical connector pointing forward. (5) Using four bolts, secure staging valve to fuel port. Tighten bolts hand-tight. (6) Using crisscross sequence, tighten bolts to 54 Ib in. (6.1 N-m) of torque. (7) Using crisscross sequence, tighten bolts to 11 Ib ft. (14.9 N-m) of torque. (8) Using crisscross sequence, tighten bolts to 17-19 Ib ft. (23.1-25.7 N-m) of torque, (9) Final tighten bolts in a clockwise bolt-to-bolt sequence to ensure bolts are torqued to 17-19 Ib ft. (23.1-25.7 N-m) of torque. WARNING Electrical power shall be off before connecting or disconnecting electrical connectors. Electricity causes shock, burns, and death. Connect staging valve to electrical harness as follows: (1) Engage electrical harness connector onto staging valve connector. (2) Turn knurled coupling ring while wiggling back shell of electrical connector. (3) Fully seat electrical harness connector by hand. (4) Using teflon jawed pliers, final tighten electrical harness connector to 1/4 to ‘V2 turn past hand-tight. No movement shall occur, (6) Using teflon jawed pliers, final tighten electrical harness connector to 1/4 to 1/2 turn past hand-tight. (7) Check tightness by wiggling connector back shell. No movement shall oceur. 10, Tubular Fuel Manifold Removal. ‘a. Remove all fuel and electrical connections to fuel system per packager’s manual. b. Install tubular manifold fuel system support fixture, 108218, per WP 303 00. ¢. Remove enclosure fuel manifold supports per packager’s manual. 4. Remove electrical harnesses from valve ladder brackets as follows: WARNING Electrical power shall be off before connecting or disconnecting electrical connectors. Electricity causes shock, burns, and death. (1) Disconnect electrical harness connector from staging valve. (2) Remove loop clamps and bolts that secure electrical harness to valve ladder bracket. (3) Remove four screws (6, figure 4) and self-locking nuts (7) that secure electrical harness connector to harness support brackets (5 and 8). (4) Remove electrical harness from valve rack bracket. e. Remove staging valves per paragraph 9. f, Remove fuel hoses as follows: (1) Remove fuel hoses from B-manifold, ELBO assembly, C-manifold, and A- manifold per paragraph 6. (2) If desired, remove fuel hose assembly from premixer per paragraph 6. Remove four bolts (2) and self-locking nuts (3) that secure fuel tube (18) to Avmanifold. Remove fuel tube, and discard gasket (4). Remove eight bolts (11) and self-locking nuts (12) that secure fuel tube (14) to fuel tube (6). Remove U-bolts (13 and 9, figure 6) and self-locking nuts (7) that secure fuel tubes (6 and 14, figure 5) to brackets at three locations. Remove fuel tubes (6 and 14), and discard gasket (13). (1) Remove U-bolts (15 and 9, figure 6) and self-locking nuts (7) that secure fuel tubes (8 and 16, figure 7) to brackets at three locations. (8) Remove fuel tubes (8 and 16), and discard gasket (14). 5. Remove bolts (1, figure 6) that secure brackets (2, 3, 4, and 5) to valve rack brackets (6 and 16). Remove brackets k, Remove A-manifold as follows: (1) Remove bolts (9, figure 5) and self-locking nuts (10) that secure A-manifold fuel tube (1) at 12:30 o'clock position. Remove bolts (6) and self-locking nuts (7) that secure C-manifold fuel tube ) at 9:30 o'clock position Remove bolts (6) and self-locking nuts (7) that secure C-manifold fuel tube (1) at 11:30 o'clock position. Remove bolts (12, figure 4) that secure loop clamps (11) to brackets (7 locations). Remove C-manifold fuel tubes (1, figure 7) from brackets. Install left (aft looking forward) electrical harnesses as follows: ce 1) Install electrical harness connector into harness support bracket (8, figure 4) on lower left corner of aft side of valve rack bracket (9). (2) Position connector keyway at 12:00 o'clock position. (3) _ Using four screws (6) and self-locking nuts (7), secure electrical harness connector to harness support bracket (5). (4) Route electrical harness to staging valves (3) on valve rack bracket (9), WARNING Electrical power shall be off before connecting or disconnecting electrical connectors. Install enclosure fuel manifold supports per packager’s manual. Remove tubular manifold fuel system support fixture, 1C8218, per WP 303 00.
