POST-OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE SHEET FOR DR DONEZA’S SURGERIES

Robotic and laparoscopic hysterectomies or myomectomies

Patients are discharged the same day.

Criteria for discharge

- Vitals stable
- Patient voided once
- Resident and/or fellow performs post-operative check
- Text/call Dr Doneza when pt leaves

Discharge medications include: (if no allergies)

- PERCOCET 5/325 1 tab PO q4-6 hours PRN pain. Dispense: 19. Refill 0.
- IBUPROFEN 800 mg 1 tab PO q8 hours PRN moderate pain. Dispense: 40. Refill 1.
Note, for myomectomy, ibuprofen is around the clock (every 6-8 hours) for 48 hours and then
PRN
- COLACE 100 mg 1 tab PO BID. Disp: 30. Refill 3.

Abdominal myomectomy

Patients are usually discharged in 24 hours.

Admission orders:

- Regular diet, d/c IV fluids when tolerating PO

- SCDs bilaterally, ambulate, incentive spirometry
- Toradol 30 mg IV q6-8 hours around the clock
- Dilaudid 0.5 mg IVP q2h PRN breakthrough pain
- On POD 1, transition medications to Percocet 5/325 1 tab PO q4-6 hours PRN pain, Ibuprofen
800 mg 1 tab PO q8 hours PRN moderate pain, Colace 100 mg 1 tab PO BID.
- CBC at 5am on POD 1
- d/c foley on POD 1 after CBC results return and if hct is stable (ask Dr Doneza)

Discharge medications as above for robotic/laparoscopic hysterectomies

Laparoscopic cases other than hysterectomy (eg cystectomy)

Patients are discharged the same day.

Criteria for discharge

- Vitals stable
- Patient voided once
- Resident and/or fellow performs post-operative check
- Text/call Dr Doneza when pt leaves

Discharge medications include:

- PERCOCET 5/325 1 tab PO q4-6 hours PRN pain. Dispense: 10. Refill 0.
- MOTRIN 800 mg 1 tab PO q8 hours PRN moderate pain. Dispense: 30. Refill 1.
- COLACE 100 mg 1 tab PO BID. Disp: 30. Refill 3.

Hysteroscopy- diagnostic or operative

Patients are discharged the same day.

Criteria for discharge

- Vitals stable
- Voided once
- Resident and/or fellow performs post-operative check
- Text/call Dr Doneza when pt leaves

Discharge medications include:

- Motrin 800 mg 1 tab PO q8 hours PRN moderate pain. Dispense: 20. Refill 1.
