The Chancellor then reads the Decree to the faithful gathered. Then after,
the unveiling of marker.
Bp Jesse:
Brothers and sisters, gathered for the blessing of
the Holy Door, and the celebration of your Jubilee
year as a parish, we take part in this celebration
with reverence and a spirit of devotion. Let us pray
fervently to the Lord that all who enter the church
through this door in order to hear the word of God
and celebrate the sacraments may heed the voice
of Christ: It is Christ who gave himself to us as the
true door to eternal life.
All: Amen.
The Bishop, facing the holy door, stretches his arms and says the Prayer
of Blessing:
PRAYER OF BLESSING:
Bp Jesse:
We praise you, Lord God, Father all-holy, You
sent your Son into our world to gather by the
shedding of His blood those whom the destructive
power of sin had scattered. You sent him to unite us
all in the one sheepfold. He is the Good Shepherd; He
is the door through which those who follow him enter
and are safe, go in and go out, and find pasture.
Grant that those who enter his Holy Door with
confident faith in Him, may persevere in the teaching
of the apostles, in the breaking of the bread, and in
unceasing prayer, and so be built into the heavenly
Jerusalem.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.
After, the Bishop sprinkles the holy door with holy water, then he
places incense in the censer and incenses the door.
The Bishop will use his crozier to knock the Holy Door three times.
Assisted by the Parish Priest opens the Holy Door. The Bishop and
the Priests kneel down on the threshold and stop in prayer.
Bp Jesse:
As an important part of your Jubilee celebration,
you will pass through the Holy Door, symbolizing the
conversion which must mark the life of every Christian.
May this passage confirm your commitment to turn away
from sin and to accept the gift of new life which the Lord
constantly offers through the ministry of the Church.
This is the great goal of the Jubilee year: to
increase in the hearts of all the baptized “a true longing
for holiness, a deep desire for conversion and personal
renewal in a context of every more intense prayer and
solidarity with our neighbors, especially the most
needy”. Upon you and your families I cordially invoke
the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Come, join me as we pass through this Holy Door.
The Bishop and the priests and other assisting ministers lead the
procession inside the church.
When the Bishop and the Priests has arrived at the altar, after making a
profound bow with the ministers, venerates the altar with a kiss and, if
appropriate, incenses the cross and the altar.
The Bishop recites the Collect Prayer then the Mass continues in
the usual manner.
COLLECT
Bp Jesse: Let us pray.
O God, author of every mercy and of all
goodness, who in fasting, prayer and
almsgiving have shown us a remedy for sin,
look graciously on this confession of our
lowliness, that we, who are bowed down by our
conscience, may always be lifted up by your
mercy.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of
the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
All : Amen.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true
God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the

teaching, we dare to say:

thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive
those who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Bp Jesse: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,
graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help
of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and
safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
All : For the kingdom, the power and the glory are
yours now and for ever.
SIGN OF PEACE
Bp Jesse: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles:

graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance
with your will. Who live and reign forever and
ever.
