Course Objectives: The objective of the course is to:

 Introduce the students with the various “Next Generation Technologies” in the area of mobile computing
 Define infrastructure requirements GSM, CDMA, 3GPP, 4G
 Assist students understand how base station communicates, and what are the various test and environmental issues
 Assist students understand the various Mobile operating Systems
 Explore the findings using Andriod Technologies

Module I: Introduction to First Generation (1G) and Second Generation (2G) Mobile Services 30%

Mobility management, Networks signaling in PCS Architecture, GSM Architecture, CDMA Architecture- CDMA 2000

Module II Mobile Data Communication & Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) 10%

WLANs (Wireless LANs) IEEE 802.11 standard, Mobile IP; Introduction to Virtual Networks, Blue tooth technology,
Blue-tooth Protocols, the Mobile Internet standard, WAP Gateway and Protocols, Wireless Mark up Languages
(WML).

Module III Third Generation/ Fourth Generation (3G/4G) Mobile Services 30%
LTE Architecture: Mobility management, Networks signaling; 3GPP Architecture;
Introduction to WLL Architecture, wireless Local Loop Technologies.
4G/5G Architecture

Module IV: Mobile Operating System 10%

Student Learning Outcomes: The student will be able to:

 Plan and effectively manage any wireless network.


 Communicate effectively the principles used in mobile computing.
 Explain the major techniques involved, and networks & systems issues for the design and implementation of mobile computing systems and applications.
 Describe the key components and technologies involved and to gain hands-on experiences in building mobile applications.
 Analyze the cause of traffic slow down and related factors for Quality of Service
 Enhance the performance of working of mobile applications.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:

The method of the course delivery will be lecture – based, assisted by power point presentations. The technology of computing would be exploited by using the
software tool, android. The students will be required to read and come prepared for discussion of research paper on the latest developments in the field of
mobile computing for self-work
