2 RADIO TEACHER: To start with our first mission, open your module to page 2. Are you there

3 already? Perfect! Now let us try to read the conversation of Lina and Don and answer the

4 following questions. Are you ready? If you’re ready let us start reading their conversation. (Lina

5 and Don are visiting the San Pablo Museum to look the paintings exhibit being held there.) Lina:

6 What a beautiful paintings! I have never seen such magnificent artworks in a long time. Don :

7 Come, look at this one. Tong Long Suk painted this. Notice at how skilful and precise the strokes

8 are! Lina: Yes, but I prefer Malang’s. His works are more marvellous. I like his style better. Don:

9 Well, we may differ our viewpoints. But I know, it doesn’t make a difference really since they

10 are both masters of their own craft. Lina: That’s true. In fact, I am proud of my heritage as a

11 Filipino because we can really stand side by side with the rest of the world when it comes to

12 arts. (PAUSE) After we read the texts let us now try answering the following questions: 1. Who

13 are visiting the San Pablo Museum? (PAUSE) Based on what you have read, what do you think

14 is the answer? Very good kids! The boys who visited the San Pablo Museum were Lina and Don.

15 (PAUSE) 2. What is the exhibit all about? Great job! The exhibit visited by Lina and Don at San

16 Pablo Museum is all about painting. (PAUSE) 3. What does Don like about Tong Long Suk’s

17 works? Amazing! You are correct again. Don likes the works of Tong Long Suk because of his

18 skillful and precise strokes. (PAUSE) 4. Whose painting does Lina find more marvellous? Wow!

1 You are correct! Based on the conversation of the two , Lina finds Malang’s works more
2 marvellous. (PAUSE) 5. What is the realization of Lina and Don even if they differ in

3 viewpoints? Incredible! You have such a nice answer. Both Lina and Don are very proud

4 of their heritage as a Filipino because their works can stand side by side with the rest of

5 the world when it comes to arts. Wow, that was a great job kids, you were able to

6 surpass the first mission.

2 restriction, some pupils bring their favorite junk foods or chichiria which they say is a lot
3 cheaper and more satisfying to their taste. They even sneak out to buy these outside the

4 school premises. With that, parents have been called for a meeting regarding this matter to

5 help the school promote the healthy eating habits of the pupils.)

7 RADIO TEACHER: Now, let us answer the following questions: 1. When do pupils have time

8 to chat and laugh with their friends? Great! Based on the selection, the answer is recess

9 time. 2. What do school canteens sell at the present time? Amazing! The canteen sells

10 nutritious food. 3. Why do you think school canteens are only allowed to sell nutritious

11 foods? Perfect kids! They allowed to sell nutritious foods because it is good for the body

12 and makes the children healthy. 4. How can parents help in promoting the healthy eating

13 habits of children like you? Very good! Parents attend meetings to help the school thru the

14 school canteen in promoting the healthy eating habits of children like you. 5. If you are to

15 choose, which food do you want to buy – putomaya or Nova chips? Why? Wow! What a

16 great idea. You choose putomaya because it is nutritious. Kids, as we go along to our next

17 mission, let us learn more about how to present a coherent, comprehensive report on

18 differing viewpoint on an issue. When we say coherent and comprehensive report – it is a

formal report of information covers a specific

1 and particular issue or topic. The report must be coherence in writing meaning. It

2 connects ideas within each sentence and paragraph. It can be divided into these parts

3 including the introduction and background of the topic, body of the report and the

4 conclusion. On the other hand, viewpoint is the way that a person’s think about

5 things in general or in a particular issue or topic. Differing viewpoint is a difference of

6 one’s opinion or disagreement about a certain issue or topic. Now, how will you give

7 a viewpoint on a certain issue or topic? Sentence or Paragraph 1- State first viewpoint,

8 Sentence or Paragraph 2- Discuss first viewpoint, Sentence or Paragraph 3- Reason

9 why you agree or disagree with viewpoint, Sentence or Paragraph 4- Example to

10 support your view or your conclusion about the issue or topic. Kids, this time, look on

11 page 9, let us try to read the selection carefully and analyze after. Then, answer the

12 following questions: (Global warming refers to climate change that causes an increase

13 in the average of Earth’s temperature. Natural events and human influences are

14 believed to be the top contributions towards the increase in average temperatures.

15 Global warming is a rise in the surface and atmospheric temperature of the earth that

16 has changed various life forms on the earth. The impact that global warming is

17 causing on earth is extremely serious. There are many hazardous effects that will

18 happen in the future if global warming continues. It includes melting of polar ice caps,

leading to an increase

1 in sea level drowning coastlines and slowly submerging continents. From today’s scenario,

2 we can derive that our earth is “sick” and we humans need to “heal” it. Global warming has

3 already caused many problems for human and we need to prevent disasters of the future.

4 Our generation needs to take care of the earth with immediate effect to safeguard future

5 generations or they will suffer the consequences of global warming. Now let us answer the

6 following questions: 1 What have you learn from the selection you have read? Great! You

7 have learned about the global warming and the effects of climate change. 2. Who are the

8 most affected with these changes? Very Good! Based on the selection, the most affected with

9 these changes are the earth, the humans and animals who have lived the earth. 3. As a

10 student, how can we contribute to lessen the effect of these changes? Amazing! I love your

11 idea kids, such an excellent reasoning to lessen the effect of global warming and climate
