1 Introduction
SAIF POWERTEC LIMITED is the registered & converted to a Private Limited Company in 2003,
previously it was SAIF Powertec Corporation. SAIF initiated its business for sales & service of
Construction, material handling & Power Generation equipment in Bangladesh through exclusive
Agreements with the world renowned Manufacturers.

They have few sister concerns named as:

They have business activity of port operation for complete terminal operation of Chittagong Port
Authority (CPA), Pangaon ICT and Kamalapur ICD (KICD). In CPA they had been appointed for
complete Terminal Operation as Terminal Operator for Chittagong Container Terminal (CCT) & 2
Berths of New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT).

This document shall explain the current process based on our discussion with Saif Powertec-Port
management team and our experience in similar industry.

2 Business Process Goals and Objectives

OBJECTIVE:

SOP- solution allows you to have an integrated view of all your Business Processes and other
sub-processes which further allows efficiency and effectiveness in achieving your business goals.

Goals:

The main goal -SOP is to create standard operating procedures for managing the port operationin
PICT.

SOP Standard operating process is a process of streamline the
individual Business Processes and integrating with each
other wherever essentially required.

4 General Description of Business Process

The AS-IS process described in this document which gives a clear understanding about the Port
operation of Saif Powertec Ltd in PICT.

4.1 PICT Operation

A. Operation Procedure
• They perform loading and unloading task in Pangaon ICT
• They unload the vessel to Jetty
• They do physical checking of all container
• They also load the vessel for export the container
• They receive assignment sheet and do planning accordingly and perform the task
• They perform the cleansing task also in the ICT
• They maintain labour booking procedure for port authority
• They have three types of gang
• They have 5 labour gang, 7 labour gang and 11 labour gang
• CNF apply to book the specific labour gang and Saif labour booking manager assign
individual labour to an assignment
• They provide all personal protective equipment at the time of operaton
• They get payment from CNF as per types of gang
• They deduct a % from each assignment payment and rest of the amount pay to Gang leader
• They provide two festival bonuses to all labour
• They also provide all medical assistance for any labour’s medical injury in between PICT
