Data Collection

The primary data of this research are the vlogs and scripts of three ToniTalk series:
Why Herlene “Hipon Girl” is Back to Zero, How Joy Mendoza Forgave the Seven Men who
Raped Her| A Forgiveness Story, and What Candy Did for Her Son Quentin to Graduate. The
speakers of these vlogs include the host, Toni Gonzaga, and the guests: Herlene Budol, Joy
Mendoza, and Candy Pangilinan.

The data contain videos and scripts which take place in a studio on different dates.
The first vlog to be analyzed is titled Why Herlene “Hipon Girl” is Back to Zero. This was
posted on July 5, 2021 and the duration is 21:23 minutes. Second, How Joy Mendoza
Forgave the Seven Men who Raped Her| A Forgiveness Story was posted on May 23, 2021
and the duration is 27:54 minutes. Lastly, What Candy Did for Her Son Quentin to Graduate
was posted on May 2, 2021 and the duration is 24:37. The vlogs were posted on Toni’s
YouTube Channel—Toni Gonzaga Studio.

These are the steps on how the researchers collected the data:

1. Find the three most-viewed vlogs of ToniTalks in YouTube.

2. Download the vlogs to allow watching the videos offline.

3. Watch and transcribe the vlogs.

7. Data Analysis

After transcribing the conversation in the vlogs, some steps were conducted to

analyze the data. Those steps are listed below:

1. Read the transcription to make sure it matches to the dialogue in the vlog.

2. Analyze the data by identify the conversational styles present in the video.

3. Draw conclusion from the analyzed data.
