Week 5 & 6

THE TEACHER AND SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Overview:
During Weeks 5 & 6, you will apply the principles of curriculum planning and implementation to
the needs of time.

Duration:
Eighteen (18) hours

 Reading and viewing time: approx. 9 hrs.


 Tasks: approx. 9 hrs.

Week 5 Instructions:
 Duration: Nine (9) hrs

Curriculum Innovation for the New Normal Education

1. To start your learning experience, read this learning material. You are also encouraged
to refer to other reading materials listed in the syllabus and that are available to you.

2. During the synchronous session:

a. Your teacher will ask you to express your feelings brought on by COVID
19 pandemic in education. You will be asked to think of an object that will
represent your feelings and explain its relevance.

b. Your teacher will conduct an interactive discussion about MELC and


curriculum innovation in the new normal. You are expected to participate
actively during the discussion.

c. Your teacher will group the class accordingly to perform Task 3. You are
expected to participate and cooperate with your group mates during the
brainstorming session. The instruction in performing Task 3 is indicated in
number 3.
d. Your group may consult the teacher for feedback and insights about the
concept or idea in performing Task 3.

3. TASK 3 (Group Project)

Write a 3-page script of a role play that embodies the ideas learned about
curriculum planning and implementation in reaction to the changes in the curriculum in
the new normal. Apply all the theories and concepts learned from week 1-4 with regards
to the teacher and the school curriculum.

The group may think of a creative way in presenting Task 3 during the next
synchronous meeting.

4. During the asynchronous session:

1. Your teacher will ask you and the entire class to watch this video . This will
provide additional insights about curriculum innovations in the new normal.

Week 6 Instructions:
 Duration: Nine (9) hrs

1. The teacher will ask the class to present their output (Task 3). This will be done thru
Draw lots.

2. Each group is expected to present their task creatively. The presentation of each group
will be subject to critiquing by the teacher and the rest of the class.

3. The teacher will synthesize the lessons about the teacher and the school curriculum.
