EPISODE 5

Participate and Assist

1. Bulletin board
I'd help my mentor create bulletin boards that would encourage students to interact
and participate in the learning process. We'd create bulletin boards that would pique
students' interest while also assisting different types of learners in assimilation of new
material at their own pace.
2. Small Group Discussion
I would assist my mentor in managing group discussions by guiding and assisting
students as they complete learning activities and objectives meant to encourage them to think
for themselves, share their ideas with others, and build a set of highly valued academic and
communication skills.
3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom
I'd assist my mentor keep track of class attendance by offering various techniques to
ensure that students are actually attending the virtual lessons and not just joining in on the
side. One of these strategies is to ask students random questions; this way, the students will
understand that the teacher will find out whether or not they’ve attended the class.
Notice
1. A. I've noticed that the nucleus topic is displayed creatively on the bulletin board. It employs
eye-catching designs that will appeal to students. It conveys important information by
providing visual information (pictures and quotes) that enriches the topic.
b. For students, bulletin boards appeal to their visual side of learning. The creative/decorative
approach to introducing new concepts and materials piques their interest.
c. Because bulletin boards are a centralized source of information, they help students learn
more effectively. They reflect new teachings that will assist visual learners in better
understanding of new content, reinforcing new terms and concepts, and challenging students
to engage in new forms of participation. Bulletin boards also brighten the classroom
ambiance, which aids in the creation of a better learning environment for the learners.
2. a. Students’ learning space would usually be at home
b. This would be a small room or corner of their home converted into a "classroom," with facilitators
including parents, siblings, and other relatives, using modules for distant learning delivery.

c. Students should receive assistance from their teachers when working on their course. The most
effective way for us to create a welcoming learning environment for students would be to build
relationships with them. We should develop routines and meet with students virtually on a regular
basis to discuss progress on lesson pacing guides and assignment completion. As teachers, our primary
responsibility is to be available to students when they have questions or need assistance. During
virtual meetings, we must also create a safe environment. It is critical to foster an atmosphere in
which students feel comfortable asking questions and contributing to discussions. Students must feel
safe in order to learn and participate.
Analyze
I'd rather manage the first learning environment. Face-to-face interaction in education is
critical because it has a richness that is difficult to replicate through distance learning. In this
environment, I could see all my students and directly facilitate the discussions, collaboration,
practices, and role plays, as well as provide feedback, without the need for virtual meetings. Teachers
must interact with their students and other learners in real time in order to consolidate and validate
their own learning.
Reflect
1. It is the responsibility of teachers to create a conducive learning environment for their
students, whether through face-to-face or online learning.
2. Learning environments are not limited to schools; they can occur in any location and at any
time
3. It is essential for teachers to create materials such as learning spaces and corners to aid
students in their learning process.

Observe
The probable problem would be how teachers would create a welcoming learning atmosphere
in which they could share ideas, thoughts, and skills in order to accomplish the desired learning
outcomes.
Reflect
To address this issue, teachers must seek out a learning environment that is designed to promote
critical thinking; an environment that pushes students' learning capacity by changing strategies
and teaching practices. Teachers should create an engaging and positive learning environment for
students, particularly in a specific course.
Plan
To make this solution a reality, teachers must practice and improve their intellect with the various
components that profoundly affect the learners' learning capabilities, such as the learners'
characteristics, learning and teaching goals, activities that will support learning, and assessment
strategies that drive and measure learning. They should also improve the physical layout of the
classroom, as this will assist students in anticipating and participating in the activity, as well as
adjusting their behavior.

Work on my Artifacts
A pleasant setting is one of the most essential variables that influences a student's learning
since it influences how and what they study. It is anything that is in the immediate vicinity of the
students and has an impact on their learning results. One of the cornerstones of good teaching is
creating a happy learning environment.
As responsible educator, we must become aware of our own preferences and avoid acting on
them. We must avoid establishing or allowing a classroom climate that leads to any type of
discrimination against a student based on his or her identification. Learning must be delivered in a
humiliation-free setting in order to be accessible to a learner. The hallmark should be open
engagement, with each member having the opportunity to express his or her thoughts. Learners are
equal regardless of their backgrounds, and this should be highlighted throughout the learning process.
All contributions should be acknowledged in order to encourage participation and foster a sense of
belonging. Rich, interesting, and engaging environments should also be created to ensure that
children are active participants in their own learning. Students also require clear learning outcomes
expectations in order to compare them to their current skills and set learning objectives.
Participating in a variety of learning activities will also help to make the learning
environment more conducive. Conversations are a great way to make classes more engaging for
students since they go beyond listening, taking notes, and doing homework. In order to encourage
learners to be productive, the classroom structure and design should also be considered. Rather than
sticking to the traditional classroom layout, divide the space into parts, each having a particular
purpose. Working with colours would also result in a colourful and vibrant setting that encourages
creativity and learning. A vibrant classroom not only stimulates the brain, but it also helps learners
stay focused and energized while learning. Creating a personalized rewards program for our own
classroom is also a terrific approach to motivate and appreciate our weaker kids.
In our own way, we could possibly be a teacher who is passionate about the subject and enjoys
the work, as well as the capacity to communicate with students with ease. I wanted to construct a
classroom that promotes contact and conduciveness in order to increase focus, reduce anxiety, and
help students regulate their emotions and behaviours.

Episode 6
Participate and assist
I would encourage students to participate in the teaching process in order to improve their
learning. In this plan, I would incorporate a strategy that would make use of various online
components. I would identify components of the subject where students can complete activities with
little or no guidance from me to reserve class time for interactivity. I would concentrate on guiding
and assisting students in applying what they had learned in the lesson. Answering questions, providing
guidance, having students work on difficulties in groups, and/or allowing students to share
information to peers are all active learning tactics that I may use to assist in a face-to-face learning
environment.
Notice

Before After
Notes on the chalkboard and whiteboard were To deliver lessons in the classroom,
mostly used in the classroom. projectors and LCD monitors were typically
used.
Resource materials are reading materials Uses technical resources such as computers,
which are usually written or printed. smart boards, or any other electronic
equipment to aid learning.
Teachers and students interact extensively. There is little interaction, and students are
usually focused on improving their critical
thinking and self-reflection abilities.
Approaches to teaching and learning are Approaches to teaching and learning usually
typically teacher-directed. technology-based and student-centered.

Analyze
1. The most likely cause is the advancement of technology. These changes in learning
environment spaces have resulted from the abrupt shift from traditional teaching to
technology-based teaching.
2. I would probably opt for a shift in teaching and learning approaches that make use of
technology-based methods. Because of the current learning environment, I would use the
benefits of technology to increase educational productivity, thereby accelerating the rate
of learning, lowering the cost of instructional materials, and better utilizing teacher time.
Students benefit from less static and more dynamic learning experiences when technology
is used in the classroom.
Reflect
The effectiveness of the learning environment is dependent not only on the instructors'
performance in their duties, but also on the successful coordination of the learning environment.
Students will be more motivated to learn if they are in a favourable learning environment, such as one
with comfortable classroom setups, appropriate teaching materials, and engaging classroom
activities. It has been proven that an engaged learning environment improves students' attention and
focus, fosters meaningful learning experiences, stimulates students to exercise higher-level critical
thinking abilities, and encourages higher levels of student performance. Unfavourable learning
environments not only impede students' learning abilities, but also stifle their inquisitive nature
because they are not stimulated to think.

Writing Action Prompts

Observe
The most common issue is a lack of access to technology. Schools and students who have
already had access to this technology have a significant advantage. Meanwhile, schools and students
who do not have this access face significant learning challenges.
Yes. Is the most common issue in a face-to-face learning environment a lack of access to
technology?
Reflect
I would solve this problem by innovating with the tools and resources already available in the
classroom. If the school has a computer for students, such as a laptop or a projector, it should be used
properly so that students can benefit from it during the learning process.
The effective innovation of tools and resources would help improve our lesson plans and in
facilitating personalized learning. It would include responsive teaching practice, competency
development, and the intentional use of digital technology to connect, collaborate, create, and share
learning.
Plan
The first step in resolving this issue would be to innovate using the tools available in the
learning environment. The next step would be to look for free user-friendly digital resources. The use
of simple but powerful online applications in the classroom would benefit both teachers and students.
Teachers must convene in small-group professional-learning communities to discuss issues related to
student learning, such as technology integration. Teachers must also learn about technology in their
own classrooms, alongside their students.

Title: Classroom Observation tool for Proficient Teachers
Keziar Resmeros

Physical Environment
The classroom is large enough to accommodate all of the students. It provides areas for
teachers and students to wander about and visit students in their seats. Their classroom layout
somehow corresponds to the teaching principle. There is a table in front for the teacher, and the
pupils' seating arrangements are organized in columns, with boys sitting in a different column from
the girls. Their seating design consists of rows of seats, allowing students in the back to see the heads
of their peers at the front. The teacher supports the teaching process with visual materials such as
visual aids and projectors. Classroom displays, on the other hand, are not visible in the classroom.
Aside from the chalkboard, which is used for board activities and note taking, there are no visual items
that students can see. Despite the lack of visual displays, the classroom environment remains clean
and safe for learning. The natural illumination from the large windows refreshes the learner, even
when lighting is put inside the classroom. However, there are no fans inside, making it sweltering for
students at times.
Psychological environment
Even though the teacher does not explicitly explain the rules for the entire class, it is apparent
that students have a positive attitude toward learning and are disciplined enough to answer questions
nicely by raising their hands. Furthermore, the instructor creates classroom standards to encourage
learners to take personal responsibility for improving their learning and behaviour. During the
conversation, the learners' cooperation and engagement were also visible. The teacher has taken the
effort to allow her students to take part in conversations and readings. The instructor exhibits an
enthusiastic approach toward respecting the students' perspectives and fostering their learning by
offering her opinions regarding their session. Mutual trust and respect amongst students are obvious
in their actions, how they treat one another, and how they perceive everyone as an asset to their
learning. Students were given the opportunity to speak and share to about their views and ideas on
the subject.
Social Environment
The teacher establishes connection with the atudents by having regular, open, and honest
conversations with them. She provides students with the opportunity to communicate with one
another during conversations by allowing them to share their opinions. The teacher ensures that all
students have opportunity to get to know one another and participate in small groups in order to
foster interactions. During discussions, she assures that each student has numerous opportunity to
answer questions, make decisions, and express remarks. Though outdoor activities were not included
in the learning process, the activities provided encouraged students to cooperate and collabo rate with
their peers. They were given a performance task to complete that would demonstrate their ingenuity
and originality in the classroom. The teacher admired their variances in terms of viewpoints and
ideas.
